Extrusion Operator

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

The extrusion operator uses mills, dies, and other extrusion equipment to produce silicone rubber tubing products 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

Operate molding machines 

Perform in process inspection of part quality using stereo inspection microscope 

Troubleshoot and resolve molding quality issues 

Cooperate with and act professionally with coworkers and managers  

Perform on-the-job training as required    

Prepare silicone, inserts and any other materials needed to perform molding of product 

Meet Flexan standards for quality, cleanliness and productivity 

Complete various required paperwork and documentation error free 

Follow all procedures for cleanroom operation, cleanroom attire, and contamination control 

Follow all Flexan procedures for traceability, line clearance, process control, safety, and housekeeping 

Prevent damage or loss to tooling, fixtures, and machinery 

Serve as backup to Supervisor as needed 

Accurately input data into ERP system on a daily basis (including clock in time, work orders worked on, operation worked on, indirect work performed, quantities of parts produced and quantities of parts that are deviated). 

Run daily and weekly reports related to material and labor transactions to monitor employee performance and the accuracy of data being entered into the ERP system. 

Review efficiency rates of employees via ERP system and assist with standard rates review and calculation. 

 

  

REQUIRED SKILLS / ATTITUDES: 

 

Able to fill out required documents and labels in English 

Able to read and understand process documents and work instructions in English 

Strong attention to detail 

Able to multitask 

Good hand dexterity and fine hand manipulation skill 

Able to sit or stand for extended periods 

Able to lift 75 pounds,  or perform push/pull operations on tools up to 75 pounds 

Adequate visual skills to perform microscope inspection of parts 

Willing and able to problem solve when something isn’t working right 

Good work ethic (comes to work and returns from lunch and breaks on time, works hard to reach work standards, tries to minimize waste) 

Team player that gets along well with others (respectful of supervisors and co-workers, helps others by offering assistance and ideas when appropriate) 

Able to recognize and address both good and sub-standard performance (praise excellent performance and cooperation, recognize and immediately discuss any safety issues, identify and report interpersonal and attitude problems, recognize and either immediately stop or report any incidences of misuse of tools and equipment) 

Works well with the Supervisor and Operations Manager 

Is proactive in identifying potential problems or opportunities to increase productivity and quality, decrease waste and improve morale
