Extrusion Process Engineer

Title:  Extrusion Process Engineer
Location:  Monroe, NJ
Schedule:  M-F 8:30 AM- 5 PM
Type:  Direct HIRE

Responsibilities
As an Extrusion Process Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the extrusion process within manufacturing operations. Will aid in the implementation of product design and process development activities for extruded products with compliance to all quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.  Provide day-to-day support for manufacturing extrusion processes and R&D projects (e.g. scale-up, new process implementation) Assist in interfacing with customers, suppliers, and internal cross-functional team members to develop specifications, coordinate prototype fabrication of R&D designed products, and transition prototypes into manufactured components (scale up from Pilot Plant to Industrial). Lead troubleshooting efforts to identify and resolve issues related to equipment malfunction, process deviations, and product defects, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous operation. Supervise a team of process engineers, technicians, and operators, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure smooth operations and skill development. Collaborate with quality control teams to establish and maintain quality standards for extruded products, implementing measures to monitor and improve product consistency and compliance with specifications. Lead troubleshooting efforts to identify and resolve issues related to equipment malfunction, process deviations, and product defects, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous operation. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization in the extrusion process, leveraging data analysis, and innovation to identify opportunities for enhancement. Lead improvement initiatives in collaboration with R&D and support them with the execution of design experiments.  Conduct analysis, prepare reports, and maintain all engineering documents.  Other duties as assigned.  Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Food Processing and/or Chemical Engineering. 2-5 years experience in a related field within the manufacturing industry, resorbable materials experience (processing) is a plus. Ability to think creatively, critically, and demonstrate troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver on time for projects. Perform basic statistical analysis of results. Strong ability to analyze data and handle confidential business information. Utilization of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
