The Opportunity

This position works out of our Plymouth, MN location in the EP division.

In Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.

As the Extrusion Technician I, you'll have the chance to provide manufacturing and engineering support to the extrusion operations.

What You’ll Work On

Establish an effective working relationship with operators, group lead, and department support.Perform all tear down and set-ups for extruders and co-extruder.Achieve and maintain extruders with established cycle time and process parameters.Read and understand tooling prints, part prints, processes and documentation.Fill out documentation correctly.Perform accurate manufacturing parts inspection.Effectively use quality equipment such as gauges, tooling scope, micrometer, ruler, etc.Diagnose and troubleshoot basic processing errors such as O.D, I.D., ovality, concentricity, FM, and etc.Understand material properties and effect it has on quality and the process.Perform basic maintenance on extruders and auxiliary equipment such as driers, melt filter, blow off table, cutters, pullers, etc.Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.Equipment: Works with a variety of production equipment, small hand tools, test equipment, and precision measuring instruments. Also uses standard office equipment such as telephone, fax/copier, and a personal computer with standard office software.Working Conditions: Works in a production or air-conditioned clean-room manufacturing environment; requires gowning attire to maintain a particle free environment. Low to moderate noise level. Minor exposure to chemicals. May work at a desk or workstation.

Pay and Shift

The hourly rate for this position is $27.00-$29.00/hr + 2nd shift differential.

The shift for this position is 2nd shift: Monday-Thursday 3:15pm-1:45am.

Required Qualifications

Demonstrated experience in extrusion, tooling, troubleshooting equipment, and performing machine and process set-ups.Proficient computer, data analysis and report writing skills.Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.Regularly scheduled overtime is a requirement of this position.

Preferred Qualifications

2 year technical degree preferred.Prefer 0-5 years experience, preferably in medical device industry.Experience in GMP, ISO, and FDA controlled environments.Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model.

The base pay for this position is $19.15 – $38.35 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
