F-16 Aircraft Mechanic

WORK LOCATION:

Position is located OCONUS in Bydgoszcz, Poland; work is being performed at an aircraft depot facility, including occasional flight line operations, hangar and/or aviation field environment.

SUMMARY:

The aircraft crew chief is responsible for: Aircraft recovery, parking, safing, and preparing for depot induction and delivery; safe towing operations; aircraft post-flight and preflight inspections, aircraft refueling, engine run, launch, and recovery operations; assisting other team members in aircraft structural and avionic/electrical modifications, upgrades, and repairs; Performing aircraft maintenance, including, but not limited to, aircraft servicing, repair, inspection; status reporting, technical, and logistical support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reads, interprets, and adheres to technical orders, manuals, blueprints, service bulletins, and other related documentation.Perform applicable F-16 related maintenance tasks, including special certification qualification tasks, e.g., engine runs, servicing or aircraft towing in accordance with applicable F-16 technical orders.Complete scheduled and unscheduled F-16 maintenance, parts ordering, and other aircraft functions.Perform routine duties within the first echelon of aircraft supervision, such as: aircraft servicing, including hydraulics, engine oil, lubrication, fuel, canopy cleaning, wheel/tire replacement, brakes, light bulbs.Troubleshoot and assist with the repair, replacement, and rebuild of aircraft structures and components.Perform flight control and other component rigging and calibration.Service aircraft as prescribed in applicable F-16 Technical Orders.Determine airworthiness of aircraft and associated components.Interact with company Maintenance Operation Center (MOC), the customer, and other program representatives in matters concerning aircraft airworthiness, operational readiness, and aircraft systems troubleshooting.All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or GED.Seven (7) years’ fixed wing aviation maintenance experience (Depot experience preferred).F-16 experience is strongly preferred.USAF military aircraft 7-level Technician or equivalentFull understanding of AFTO 781 aircraft formsMust have experience with working from blueprint drawings, diagram, specifications, service manuals, sketches, templates, and other incomplete data.Knowledge and understanding of applicable Maintenance Program.Ability to work in an austere environment and to perform work in a hangar or aviation field environmentFederal Aviation Administration Airframe and Power Plant License is preferred.Ten (10) years’ F-16 maintenance hands-on, expeditor, and/or production superintendent experience is preferredKnowledge and understanding of applicable F-16 Depot Maintenance Program is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to lift 50 pounds to waist level and 30 pounds to shoulder height.Must be able to lift and carry parts, tooling, and other awkward items sometimes weighing up to 50 lbs, including walking up and down stairs, aircraft maintenance stands, and platformsRequires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workdayMust be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.If a Contractor Field Team (CFT) is required, may be required to perform duties at remote and austere locations
