Compensation: $8.50 per hour + Tips
Position Summary:Under the direction of the Food and Beverage Operations Manager, the server will ensure continued excellent customer service utilizing the Tesuque PROUD Service Standards while interacting with our guests and ensure they have a great dining experience. At all times, servers are expected to be attentive to our guest needs and making them feel welcome, comfortable, important and relaxed. Servers are expected to have some basic cooking knowledge.
Note: Native American preference will be given.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Prepares the tables, laying out napkins and utensils, making sure the condiments are refilled, performing all other preparation tasks. Knowledge of food and menu items terminology. Staying updated on current menu choices, specialties and menu deviations. Direct customers to their tables, presenting menus, suggesting dishes, assisting in drink selection, informing customers about food preparation details, and communicating specific customer needs to the cooks. Properly open and pour wine at the tableside. Knowledge of beer, wine and spirits terminology. Must be familiar with domestic and imported beers, different types of wine, brand name spirits, and garnishments. Maintaining proper dining experience, delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, offering desserts and drinks, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses. Accepting payments, issuing receipts returning the change. Performing basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor. Assisting with special events as needed. Manages multiple tasks, remains calm in a very high paced and stressful environment, and works well under pressure Create a memorable dining/lounge/banquet experience for our guests utilizing the Tesuque PROUD Guest Service Standards. Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently. Must have some familiarity with basic knowledge of cooking skills. Experience and Education: Experience carrying out detailed written and oral instructions. Ability to communicate, read, and write clearly and accurately. Ability to demonstrate outstanding guest service at all times. Knowledge of food and beverage service standards. Knowledge of dining and food maintenance operations and customer service. Minimum Qualifications: One-year casual to fine dining experience in restaurant/lounge/banquets preferred Must be 21 years of age Ability to carry and balance service tray on shoulder Present a clean and professional appearance Be punctual and dependable Must have State of New Mexico Food Handlers Certificate Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug/alcohol screen, and meet all employment criteria. Supervisory Responsibilities:None relating to this position at this time.
Physical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to stand and walk for extended periods; use of hands and finger to feel and reach; talk or hear. The employee occasionally is required to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.. The incumbent occasionally exposed to loud noise, change in temperatures, and second-hand smoke.
Work Environment:Work is generally performed in a casino setting with exposure to second-hand smoke and a high noise level. Due to the nature and scope of this position, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours and irregular shifts will be required.
