The Compression Systems Engineering (CSE) organization is looking for a goal-oriented, detail-focused mechanical design engineer to be responsible for design execution and leadership in supporting support the F135 HPC Component Integrated Product Teams (CIPT). This position requires proven technical capabilities, leadership skills, excellent communication skills, self-sufficiency, and willingness to work in a team environment. What You Will Do + Support a multi-disciplinary engineering IPT and lead the discipline through sustainment phases of design activities, achieving IPT, CIPT and program customer driven requirements for durability, performance, and safety. + Design lead for investigation of military engine field incidents reported by customer leading to root cause and corrective action as well as lead or support producibility improvement investigations with manufacturing vendors. + Lead or support CIP (Component Improvement Product) tasks for part and/or module HPC product improvement working with the IPT as well as serviceable limits for HPC part wear. + Review other’s designer analytical assessment, design substantiation, coach and mentor them thru design execution. + Assist in creation of safety risk analysis and develop risk mitigation plans as well as present and communicate results to customers and program management. + Analysis and disposition of quality non-conformances (QNs) for new parts and fielded hardware (Aftermarket Notifications, AN) as well as provide drawing interpretation on the design intent for supplier requests for information (SRI’s). Qualifications You Must Have + Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with 8+ years’ experience Mechanical Design, turbine engine engineering required, OR + Advanced degree with 5+ years’ experience in Mechanical Design engineering required. + Up to 10% domestic travel required. + The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. + U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Qualifications We Prefer + M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering. + High proficiency in MS Office/excel. + Axial gapping and engine integration experience. + HPC rotating & static hardware experience. + Experience with Teamcenter and SAP. + Experience with analysis tools such as ANSYS, Unigraphics NX, and workbench. + Familiarity with engineering standard work, Class I and II EC process. + Experience with fault tree investigations. + Candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. + Broad understanding of BOM hardware, drawings, and manufacturing methods. + Experience leading small teams. Compression Systems Engineering (CSE) Compression Systems Engineering is responsible for the design, development, and in service support of all fans low-pressure and high-pressure compressors for commercial and military engine models. CSE is responsible for the identification and maturation of new technologies for these products. Technical disciplines in CSE include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, and Product Definition. Aftermarket and Sustainment Engineering executes both military and commercial repair design and repairs substantiations for engines. We create and improve ASE business and repair development tools. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility. The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
