FAA Aircraft Technician Senior

Position Purpose:

The Aircraft Technician Senior will independently perform a variety of aircraft modifications and maintenance functions, including removal and installation of airframes, landing gear, engine components, electrical components, and control systems. The role requires ensuring that all work is completed in accordance with procedures, performance, and test specifications. The Aircraft Technician Senior will demonstrate expertise in aircraft systems and processes, coordinate with other departments, and ensure compliance with safety standards. Corporate aircraft experience is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

Periodic Maintenance & Servicing:

Perform required periodic maintenance and necessary servicing of all aircraft mechanical systems, ensuring tasks are completed within the quoted or standard CMP (Computerized Maintenance Program) time.

Demonstrate the ability to consistently complete maintenance tasks efficiently and in compliance with company standards.

Work Direction & Leadership:

Provide work direction for assigned technicians, setting high standards of quality through instruction, guidance, and example.

Act as a Mechanical Team Lead (MTL) in their absence, assuming the MTL duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Inspection & Documentation Compliance:

Coordinate with the Inspection department to ensure compliance with FAA inspection and documentation requirements.

Ensure timely and accurate completion of work order sign-offs, shift turnovers, and other required documentation.

Confirm that all work performed meets quality standards, specifications, and company policies.

Customer Property Handling & Security:

Properly identify and tag customer property and equipment, ensuring that all items are stored securely and safely during the maintenance process.

Follow procedures for tracking, handling, and safeguarding customer property.

Ground Support & Equipment Operation:

Operate and supervise the use of ground support equipment such as power supplies, hydraulic rigs, nitrogen filler carts, and oxygen service carts.

Follow standard operating procedures and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) when using ground support and special support equipment during the removal and installation of major components.

Aircraft Movement & Coordination:

Coordinate the movement of aircraft as required, ensuring compliance with safety procedures and operational needs.

Training & Mentorship:

Assist in training new employees on the use of maintenance manuals, SRM (Structural Repair Manuals), IPC (Illustrated Parts Catalogs), and other critical systems for aircraft maintenance.

Provide guidance on proper maintenance procedures and components installation.

Interdepartmental Coordination:

Coordinate with other departments to arrange for the overhaul or repair of customer property as necessary.

Collaborate with different teams to ensure smooth operations and timely maintenance tasks.

 

Additional Functions:

Material Tracking & Labor Charging:

Use the material tracking system to create parts demand, track materials, and charge labor to the appropriate work orders and item numbers.

Lean and 6S Initiatives:

Apply 6S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, and Safety) and Lean initiatives to maintain clean and organized work areas, including shops, hangars, and aircraft work zones.

Ensure proper disposal of waste fuel, oil, hydraulic fluids, de-icing fluids, and solvent rags in accordance with safety and environmental regulations.

Process Improvement:

Implement Lean and continuous improvement processes to enhance maintenance operations, improve efficiency, and reduce waste.

Proactively suggest and contribute to process improvements within the aircraft maintenance department.

Tool and Equipment Maintenance:

Properly use and maintain company-provided tools and equipment, ensuring they are returned to designated storage areas after use.

Ensure tools and equipment are kept in good working condition.

Flight Testing & Certification Support:

Support aircraft certification processes and final phase testing, which may include performing flight tests as required.

Assist with final inspections and compliance verification for aircraft ready for delivery or certification.

Other Duties:

Perform other duties as assigned by management or leadership.

 

Qualifications:

Education:

High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience:

A minimum of 4 years of aviation maintenance experience, with at least 3 years working on mid to large-sized aircraft.

Corporate aircraft experience is preferred.

Certifications & Licenses:

FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic Certificate required.

Valid Driver’s License required.

Technical Knowledge & Skills:

Aircraft Systems Knowledge:

Advanced knowledge of inspection and maintenance procedures for various aircraft models and systems, including airframes, landing gear, engines, electrical components, and control systems.

Proficient in using maintenance manuals, IPCs, Service Bulletins, structural repair manuals, and engineering drawings to perform maintenance tasks and modifications.

FAA Regulations Compliance:

Strong working knowledge of FAA regulations, Repair Station procedures, Quality Control manuals, and company policies and procedures.

Maintenance Tracking & Documentation:

Familiar with computerized maintenance programs (CMP) and able to manage maintenance records, sign-offs, and paperwork in compliance with FAA standards.

Ground Support Equipment:

Experience operating and supervising ground support equipment used in aircraft maintenance and servicing.

 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to work in a variety of physical environments, including aircraft hangars and outdoor workspaces.

Ability to lift and maneuver parts and equipment up to 40 pounds.

Must be able to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and handle physically demanding tasks.

 

Other Requirements:

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Ability to work independently and efficiently under limited supervision, as well as in a team environment.

Must be detail-oriented, ensuring high standards of quality and safety are maintained throughout all maintenance processes.

Must possess a professional attitude, with the ability to adapt to sudden changes in schedules or priorities.



Pay Details: $36.05 per hour
