Position Purpose:
The Interior Installation Technician II performs tasks related to the removal, installation, and fabrication of aircraft interiors, including components such as trim, carpet, soundproofing, light structure, cabinetry, panels, and other accessories. This position requires a solid understanding of the aerospace industry and installation techniques, with an emphasis on safety and quality. Work is completed under general supervision, and all activities must comply with company design specifications, quality standards, and FAA regulations.
Key Responsibilities:Essential Functions:Aircraft Interior Installation and Fabrication:
Safely perform the removal, installation, and/or fabrication of aircraft interiors, which may include galleys, closets, lavatories, side ledges, bulkheads, doors, panels, and other components.
Coordinate with supervision and Inspection to ensure compliance with Repair Station procedures, internal paperwork, FAA sign-offs, and quality specifications.
Material Tracking and Documentation:
Utilize the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign off on completed work.
Maintain accurate records of all activities to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.
Tool and Equipment Usage:
Use hand tools, power tools (such as band saws, shears, sanders, and brakes), and other specialized equipment to install, remove, or fabricate interior components.
Follow standard operating procedures to ensure safe and efficient tool usage.
Properly care for and maintain all shop equipment and tools.
Aircraft Interior Installation:
Prepare and install various aircraft interior components, ensuring the work meets company operation procedures and quality standards.
Ensure the proper installation and function of all components, such as galleys, panels, trim, and accessories.
Fastener and Hardware Installation:
Remove and re-install nut plates, inserts, and other fasteners used in aircraft interiors.
Properly apply the use of hardware and fittings during aircraft interior installations to ensure structural integrity and performance.
Safety and Housekeeping:
Comply with safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Identify and address unsafe conditions to minimize risks to personnel and property.
Assist in Aircraft Maintenance:
Provide support to other technicians in performing aircraft maintenance requirements under supervision.
Adapt to changing schedules and timelines as required.
Additional Functions:Process Improvement Support:
Work with lead and senior technicians to develop and implement process improvements.
Utilize Lean Six Sigma and other process improvement techniques to reduce cost, cycle time, and man-hours.
Pattern Making and Customization:
Make and use simple patterns for personal use or aircraft installation, employing standardized procedures to ensure accuracy.
Flight Test Support (as needed):
In support of aircraft certification and final phase testing, assist in flight tests on aircraft when required.
Other Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned by management or supervisory personnel.
Qualifications:Education and Experience:Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience: Two (2) years of experience in application installation, fabrication, or related fields.
Aerospace industry experience is preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:Blueprint and Documentation Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering documentation, and technical manuals.
Tool and Equipment Usage: Proficiency in using hand and power tools (e.g., band saws, shears, sanders, brakes) to install or fabricate aircraft interior components.
Material Tracking Systems: Ability to use material tracking systems for managing parts, squawks, and work sign-offs.
Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols, including the use of PPE, and the ability to identify and address unsafe conditions.
Attention to Detail: Ability to ensure that all installations and repairs meet design specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
Physical Requirements:Lifting: Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
Climbing: Ability to climb ladders and stairs and work in small, restricted spaces.
Shift Flexibility: Ability to work any shift, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as necessary.
Work Environment:Work Location: Aircraft interior installation facility or hangar.
Conditions: The position may involve exposure to various environmental factors, such as noise, fumes, and confined spaces.
Pay Details: $25.66 per hour
