The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a dedicated and skilled Fabrication Mechanic to optimize our NuSil team, delivering results against some of the most complex business and technology initiatives. 

This role will be a full-time position based out of our Bakersfield, CA facility. You will have the opportunity to perform fabrication work including, but not limited to, cutting, welding, sheet metal working, metal finishing, and machinery assembly. The team 

Avantor’s NuSil team is part of our Lab and Production Services business unit. This team supports the innovation and growth objectives of major industries across the globe by helping with the integration of new technology solutions into their processes and operations. 

What we’re looking for 

Education: High school education or equivalent requiredExperience: 5-6 years in skilled trades, including interpreting blueprints

Preferred Qualifications

Construction or food grade weldingFamiliar with filling out permits

How you will thrive and create an impact 

The Fabrication Mechanic is able to fabricate/modify increasingly complex fixtures, machinery, and miscellaneous fittings.  Fabrication will involve laying out, cutting, fitting, measuring, and welding various metals and other materials to create desired object or system.The Fabrication Mechanic is knowledgeable or increasingly develops knowledge in welding standards in order to create the desired outcome of engineering projects and follows standard operating proceduresThe Fabrication Mechanic works from increasingly complex drawings, blueprints, manuals and verbal/written instructions on installation, repair, replacement and /or maintenance involving machinery, plumbing & piping, and in some cases electrical. The Fabrication Mechanic has or increasingly develops equipment troubleshooting skills and, under limited supervision, troubleshoot and repair problems on machinery, process equipment and facility systems and componentsThe Fabrication Mechanic will also initiate purchase orders for parts, machines or contracted services. The Fabrication Mechanic is increasingly self-motivated and proactive in identifying and correcting mechanical and safety issues.

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

$53,000.00 - $88,000.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
