Fabrication Shop Foreman Job Details Level Management Job Location Hopkinton RI - Hopkinton, RI Position Type Full Time Education Level 2 Year Degree Salary Range $40.00 - $50.00 Hourly Travel Percentage None Job Shift Day Job Category Construction Description SUMMARY:The “Shop Foreman” will supervise, participate, and/or perform all aspects of the fabrication process including but not limited to execution, planning, VDC, QA/QC, welding inspections, and all other related work performed by the fabrication shop. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:• Safety leader of the Fabrication team in the execution of all projects with the objective of creating andmaintaining a safe working environment and team culture.• Supervise and/or perform the fabrication of: heating hot water, chilled water, steam, condensate,compressed air, process fluids, chemical, fuel oil, gasses, domestic water, sanitary waste, natural gas,equipment skids, related components, and all other piping and plumbing systems.• Supervise and/or perform the measuring, cutting, threading, grooving, or bending of pipe to the properrequirements using hand tools, power tools, or machinery such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines,groove machines, or pipe-bending machines.• Supervise and/or perform proper fit-up and assembly of pipe, fittings, flanges, valves, all relatedcomponents, fixtures, and equipment for all assembly types, methods, and welding procedures.• Supervise and/or perform the fabrication and/or assembly of hangers, supports, stands, frames, supportsteel, misc. steel, and similar.• Supervise and/or perform layout, locating, and/or marking the position of pipe installations, connections,passage holes, or fixtures in structures using measuring instruments such as rulers, levels, and/or othertools as needed.• Perform visual inspections of all welds and assemblies including weld logs and weld maps as required.• Preform QA/QC inspections of all assemblies that are plumb, level, and square before leaving the shop.• Perform layout and develop isometric drawings for piping systems.• Supervise and/or perform testing of pipe for leaks using various methods as specified or required.• Ensure field installation compliance with technical specifications, approved shop drawings, and submittal.• Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors• Must be willing to go in the field and help if/when needed• Must be able to go in field to assist field teams when fabrication is needed and take measurements for isodrawings.• Must be willing to manage, supervise, and/or perform all other duties needed and/or delegated by or inthe absence of the “Fabrication Manager” for execution of shop assigned projects and scopes notspecifically listed herein.• Ensure break times and work hours are adhered too.• Manage white boarding: assign activities to TMs to ensure the correct time/cost code is being applied.• Track daily productivity assigned by the “Fabrication Manager”. Qualifications ESSENTIAL SKILLS & CHARACTERISTICS:• Must maintain strict adherence to company safety processes, procedures and policies.• Act as a team leader in the execution of mechanical work safety. Attend weekly coordination meetingswith Project Manager and/or Project Engineer.• Ability to work independently and manage a team of pipefitters, plumbers, welders, and apprenticesAbility to plan work accordingly and work with Fabrication Shop Manager to ensure consumable are onsite as needed• Interact with coworkers in an attentive, courteous manner always.• Direct shop team members in appropriate tasks.• Assist with coordination and scheduled work as required to support any associated on-site operationalrequirements.• Manage QA/QC of the fabricated assemblies etc.• Establish work completion in accordance with established Quality Control and Quality AssurancePrograms• Have credentials to operate crane and forklift• Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, plans or specifications to determine work details orprocedures• Ensure proper site housekeeping is always maintained• Maintain good documentation and record keeping• At times, they may perform clerical/administrative duties as assigned by the shop manager. EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:• High School Diploma or relevant work experience in piping/plumbing• 15+ years of pipe field experience with 5+ years field foreman or supervisor experience• 10+ years of pipe fabrication shop experience with 5+ years shop foreman or supervisor experience• Applicable State Trade License• Knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)• OSHA 30 Certification• Understanding and development of daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)• Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in industrial construction preferred• Hold a welding licensePHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that mustbe met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Additionally, the team member should have the ability to stand or sit for extended periodsof time, bend, reach overhead, and kneel, as necessary. The work environment may include GMP (GoodManufacturing Practices) – Aseptic and non-Aseptic Areas, as well as Non-GMP Areas (Office spaces).
