Summary
The Technical Specialist in GPI’s Louisville, CO Research & Development facility safely designs, fabricates, converts, and installs machines and processes directly related to the launch of new business objectives, new manufacturing processes, and qualification of new raw materials.
Description of Tasks
Adheres to plant and corporate safety policies by always performing duties in a safe and orderly manner; be actively engaged in all safety programs Designs, fabricates, converts, maintains, operates, and trains others on the installation and use of package converting equipment in support of launching new business initiatives for the Company. Manages the machinery/mechanical aspects of R&D projects. Works independently and travels to GPI manufacturing locations to install and/or troubleshoot package manufacturing machinery. Travels to GPI customer’s facilities and assists with the installation, start-up, and trouble-shooting of packaging converting equipment. Writes reports/recommendations on projects and communicates regularly with machine venders, GPI plant management, GPI customers, and business development personnel. Schedules, coordinates, and manages manufacturing trials evaluating new raw materials and converting processes. Facilitates process-related projects and programs in support of Corporate R&D. Responsible for maintenance and up-keep of R&D pilot line converting equipment.
Required Skills
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills; able to communicate with all levels of management and external/internal customers Basic fabrication experience, working with various metals & plastics Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical failures High level of motivation and the ability the work with minimal supervision Ability to maintain a positive team environment Demonstrated organizational skills and detail oriented; good documentation skills Ability to work in a fast-pace and multi-tasking environment Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Required Experience
High school diploma or equivalent Minimum 2 years of experience fabricating, operating, and maintaining manufacturing equipment. Experience operating printing presses, laminators, die cutters/sheeters, folder/gluers, powered industrial vehicles, preferred Previous machinist and/or fabricating experience, preferred
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift to 50 lbs. Ability to work safely and effectively on and around large manufacturing equipment and in a chemical environment.
Pay Range: $55,770.00 - $69,740.00
