We are searching for the best talent for an **Facilities Mechanic** to be in **San Angelo, TX.**
This position is under a Collective Bargaining Agreement in a union environment and the hourly rate is **$27.65/hr**
**Job Summary**
The Facilities Mechanic – 1st Class are accountable to utilize trade knowledge and familiarity with plant and equipment for leading a continuous improvement program on specified equipment. This will include recommending, and participating in equipment improvements, and Ability to work and communicate well with others.
**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
Under limited supervision and according to prescribed procedures, responsible for operating machinery to produce and repair parts, tools and equipment using sketches, prints or instructions manuals. Accountable for adhering to all quality and safety guidelines

**Utilities Operations:**
+ **Cognitive Abilities:**
+ Follows checklist covering normal tour of duty, but deviates from or rearranges routine, depending upon conditions and shift.
+ **Mechanical Abilities:**
+ As required, starts and/or checks operation of equipment in mechanical rooms, such as boilers, pumps, air-conditioning compressors, air compressors, etc. and makes necessary operational adjustments.
+ Records meter and gauge readings as specified and checks and records quantities of materials and supplies, such as fuel oil, gas, chemicals, etc.
+ Thoroughly investigates any malfunctioning equipment and initiates the appropriate repairs.
+ Perform water treatment tests to boilers, cooling towers and other systems as required.
+ Tours entire plant to check operation of thermostats, radiators, exhaust fans, air-conditioning units, etc. Opens, closes, or adjusts valves, switches, etc. to secure or maintain desired temperatures in each area. Bleeds lines as necessary.
+ As required, checks operation of water pumps, performs PM and adjusts pressure controls as needed.
+ **Pipe Fittings:**
+ **Mechanical Abilities:**
+ Lays out and installs piping with valves, tees, nipples, drains, etc., cutting, threading, and connecting sections as needed; works up material lists and assists with ordering of same; coordinates work of subcontracted plumbers and other mechanics as required.
+ Cuts, bends, and sweat couplings and/or copper tubing for new water lines; maintains all appropriate equipment in working order; advises facilitator as to equipment or material needed.
+ Connects pneumatic control instruments and adjusts control valves; reads pneumatic schematics; coordinates modifications or major repairs with vendor.
+ Supervises and participates in repairs or replacement of valves, regulators, flow meters, filters, etc.
+ Diagnoses cause of trouble and makes necessary repairs, adjustments, or replacements to pipelines, valves, sprinkler heads, toilets, fountains, fluid or gas lines to equipment, etc.
+ Estimates material needed on repairs, new installations or modifications to existing installations and orders same through facilitator or another designated individual. Also helps maintain sufficient stock of parts and supplies on hand to meet normal replacement and repair needs.
+ Maintains knowledge of how to use all piping tools and materials.
+ **Utility Maintenance:**
+ **Mechanical Abilities:**
+ Fabricates and/or repairs using wood, wallboard, plexiglass, Formica, and similar materials, making articles or pieces of equipment such as benches, closets, partitions, shelves, bins, racks, etc.
+ Works from sketches, plans, or simple prints and uses hand or powered tools such as bench saw, jig saw, table saw, drill press, etc.
+ Reads and interprets construction blueprints.
+ **Physical Abilities:**
+ Hangs and adjusts doors, replaces locks and hinges, hangs signs, etc.
+ Moves furniture and equipment as needed. Fastens and levels production and plant equipment.
+ Performs miscellaneous grounds maintenance work.
+ **Mechanical:**
+ Helps establish and implement preventive maintenance programs on facilities equipment.
+ Performs periodic performance checks on plant physical equipment and systems and initiates proper corrective actions where indicated.
+ Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems experienced with plant physical equipment. Communicates all appropriate information to facilitator, makes recommendations, initiates repairs, records pertinent data.
+ Repairs or replaces such components as impellers, valves, rings, shafts, seals, packing and gaskets, bearings, gears, cams, bushings, couplings, springs, fasteners, sprockets and chains, belts, etc.
+ **Construction and Renovations:**
+ **Cognitive Abilities:**
+ Assists Plant Engineering staff with resolving basic design details, especially with access and availability of needed utilities.
+ Assists Plant Engineering staff with coordination and follow-up of subcontractor services.
+ For minor construction renovations, helps determine quantities of required building materials and assists as necessary with purchase and procurement of same.
+ Runs all water chemistry tests; adjusts treatment programs as indicated.
+ Develops and implements equipment start-up and shutdown schedules with Plant Engineering support as required.
+ **Physical Abilities:**
+ Constructs forms and pours small to moderate concrete structures.
+ Performs required demolition and other site preparation prior to new construction or renovations.
+ **Mechanical Abilities:**
+ Welds structural steel assemblies as required, is capable of making repairs or fabricate parts utilizing brazing, spot welding, or soldering equipment.
+ Performs other minor maintenance tasks related to construction or renovations. Installs new or replacement plant physical equipment; performs as directed, modifications to same.
+ Fabricates, installs, or repairs HVAC ducting, dampers, louvers, etc.
+ **Electrical:**
+ **Cognitive Abilities:**
+ Maintains in proper working order emergency generators.
+ **Electrical Abilities:**
+ Assists with installation or removal of power supply to facilities equipment.
+ Assists with installation, modifications, adjustment, or repair to control systems on all plant physical equipment; assists with troubleshooting miscellaneous apparent electrical problems with this equipment
+ **Mechanical Abilities:**
+ Inspects motors on pumps, HVAC systems, etc.; assists with replacement, if indicated. Working with electrician, may change light bulbs, simple switches, clocks, or other miscellaneous electrical devices; assists with wire pulling and conduit installation.
+ **Painting:**
+ Mix, blend, tint, and match colors as required.
+ Prepare surface and apply paint using brushes, roller, or spray equipment. Erect and use rolling or stationary scaffolds. Use blow torch or solvents to remove old paint.
+ Glaze windows and do caulking with materials and equipment as assigned.
+ May do minor touch-up as needed on doors, walls, cabinet work, production and facilities equipment.
+ **OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Does any other work of a related nature and performs other work-related duties as assigned.
+ Must have good work habits (neatness, organizational skills, time management skills, etc.).
+ Knowledge on Predictive Maintenance technologies such as Infrared Thermography, Vibration Analysis, Ultrasound, Lubrication and Alignment Analysis and/or willingness to obtain trainings Comply with all applicable quality management system, environmental, safety and occupational health policies. (for example, ISO 13485, ISO14001 & OSHAS18001).
**Qualifications - External**
+ High School graduate, G.E.D. or equivalent skills, experience or training.
+ 0-2 years of relevant experience
+ Completion of electrical and/or mechanical technical certification from an accredited institution or a combination of education and work experience in the field.
+ Computer knowledge in Microsoft Office including EXCEL, WORD, and Outlook and able to demonstrate the ability to operate Microsoft Excel for data entry and interpretation (Open selected files given location, read and interpret data as displayed, tabular and graphically).
+ Knowledge of PLCs and automated equipment is preferred.
