Facilities CAD Designer - San Antonio
Job Description Insight Global is seeking a CAD Technician in San Antonio to support MILCON/large facility efforts. They will provide a full array of engineering design and technical drawing support to the Fire Protection, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineers. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:  Engineering Design Support:  Provide comprehensive engineering design and technical drawing support to DHA-FE Fire Protection, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineers.  Manage and update all files and drawings generated through computer-aided design (CAD) software.  Drawing Maintenance:  Update and maintain electronic engineering drawings.  Revise existing Life Safety, fire alarm, fire suppression, mechanical HVAC, plumbing, and electrical drawings to reflect as-built conditions and any changes made through additions, moves, or modifications.  Fire Protection System Updates:  Update the fire protection layer with all components, including control panels, heat detectors, smoke detectors, pull and push stations, egress lighting, fire extinguisher locations, sprinkler head locations, and smoke/fire dampers.  Develop one-line drawings for fire protection, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (FP/M/E/P) systems.  MEP and Architectural Updates:  Update existing MEP and architectural infrastructure to reflect changes made through additions, moves, or modifications.  Revise electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, switchgear and power system details, power distribution wiring, lighting, fire alarm, low-voltage plans, mechanical apparatus, and architectural elements.  Diagram and Plan Creation:  Create and update air and water flow diagrams, control diagrams, floor plans with equipment locations, utility distribution, electrical one-line diagrams, and MEP schedules/details.  Organize these materials for the E&D team CAD library.  PDF and Raster File Conversion:  Import existing PDF scans of facilities and convert raster files to AutoDesk or other engineering design software drawing files.  Support and Compliance:  Support external/internal requests for fire protection/life safety facility drawing files, installation, and project folder creation.  Review updates of drawings for compliance with standards before updating master drawings.  Quality Control:  Perform self-review and team-review of completed designs as part of the quality control process.  Revise designs based on feedback from quality control reviewers.  Research and Development:  Research applications for fire and HVAC systems and products.  Stay updated with new applications/products through active learning.  Training and Development:  Attend required training courses related to job functions and professional development, including travel to classes.  Field Surveys and Testing:  Conduct field surveys to develop new designs, modify existing systems, or assist installation personnel in complex projects.  Verify the accuracy of drawings and as-built conditions during field surveys.  Participate in life safety surveys of buildings for compliance with NFPA and UFC codes.  Record and report any building deficiencies observed during site visits.  Perform functional testing and commissioning for government acceptance of systems.
