Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
**Day to Day Responsibilities:**
+ Be a subject matter expert on plant PA (Pollution Abatement) distributed control system (DCS).
+ Be a subject matter expert for the PA Process and its equipment (Scrubbers, Baghouses, Gas control process, etc.
+ Responsible for design, installation, and documentation for all PA controls systems and processes.
+ Works with project, engineering, and operations teams on modification/expansion of these systems.
+ Serves as technical expert in a specialty area and train off-hour support personnel for first level response.
+ Leads mechanical and electrical trades resources on repairs, renovations, and maintenance of PA systems.
+ Plan, schedule, and direct trades resources using computerized work order system.
+ Support and maintain required regulatory and Corning safety and environmental requirements.
+ Coordinates activities to design-in safety (FMEA, HAZOP, JSA, LOTO, etc.).
+ Create and update documents such as machine specs, drawings, Standard Operating Procedures.
+ Provide periodic off-hours on-call support.
+ Coordinate outside vendors to maintain system integrity.
+ Hurricane lock-in/start-up team support – expected to be a participant in Hurricane contingency.
**Travel Requirements:**
+ Approximately 5% or less.
**Hours of work/work schedule/flextime:**
+ 40 hours/week.
**Required Education:**
+ Associate degree in a technical discipline OR a High School Diploma with 5+ years in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
**Required Skills:**
+ Mechanical aptitude.
+ Other technician and/or operator roles that lead to a better understanding of the equipment and processes.
+ Reads blueprints and/or technical drawings.
+ Demonstrates strong technical curiosity.
+ Has strong approach to problem solving and troubleshooting.
+ Strong safety awareness.
+ PC proficient – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
+ Good written and communication skills.
+ Willingness and ability to learn new skills and knowledge.
**Desired Skills:**
+ Experience in instrumentation, electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and repair.
+ Experience with ABB DCS Controls Systems.
+ Project Management skills.
+ People Management experience.
+ Self-directed/Detail oriented.

The range for this position is $56,926.00 - $78,273.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
