Facilities Field Supervisor - Full Time - Days Department: ENGINEERING Job Summary Assists the Manager in coordinating the operations and maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment of the healthcare network and oversees activities of building and grounds maintenance staff. The Supervisor also assists in analyzing HVAC systems, alarm systems, security systems, and other areas of the environment of care. The incumbent coordinates onsite contractors and vendors, and plays a role in construction activities and related follow up. Core Job Responsibilities + Plays a key role in creating and maintaining a comfortable, functional and safe environment throughout MVHS facilities. + Coordinates work schedules and assignments for assigned engineering staff (Groundskeepers, Plant Operations/HVAC, electricians, etc.) with regards to preventative maintenance, work requests and project work. Monitors work for completeness, quality and timeliness. Prioritizes projects and assignments appropriately. Handles call outs and vacation requests. + Maintains an understanding and awareness of emergency procedures, life safety plans, fire drills, evacuation procedures and internal/external disaster procedures, as outlined in the fire and safety manual and is prepared at all times to take an appropriate role. Accountable for the operation and maintenance of fire alarm system and equipment. Assists in Fire Marshal duties including and not limited to orientation presentations, Code Red drills or reviews, and firewall penetrations. + Ensures fire system, dust partitions, and evacuation routes are intact during facilities/construction projects. + Provides a safe environment at all times and is alert to potentially unsafe conditions, such as: wet floors, blocked traffic areas, use of safety protective devices on all power equipment, etc. + Carries out duties in a safe, professional manner with a focus on customer service as a high priority, ensuring staff do the same. + Ensures infection control work requests are met timely. + Ensures Engineering and Facilities activities and operations are in compliance with DNV. DOH and OSHA as well as other regulations at all times. Keeps manuals and records as required by regulating authorities and MVHS. + Understands and implements DOH/DNV statement of conditions standards. Ensures all critical preventive maintenance completed per schedule. + Monitors construction projects throughout the System and reviews schedules with supervisors and vendors. Assists in implementing schedules, relocations, and temporary shutdowns as required. Makes daily rounds through construction projects to ensure projects are safe and minimally disruptive to customers, visitors, & patients. Determines if Life Safety Plans are affected by construction or project work and works with Facilities leadership to formulate interim plans when needed. + Participates in budget monitoring and purchasing. Estimates labor and material expenses for projects. + Files and maintains construction documents using established systems. + Monitors medical gases. Schedules medical gas testing as required. + Maintains reasonable stock levels for supplies. + Reviews quotations and estimates for equipment breakdowns and obtains competitive pricing. + With the Manager and Human Resources guidance, provides input to or makes recommendations on employee hires, performance reviews, transfers, promotions, salary changes, disciplinary actions, terminations and similar actions. Resolves grievances and other staff problems in a fair, timely and consistent manner also in partnership with HR. + Responsible for orienting and training new hires. Ensures all staff have the resources, tools and training necessary to fulfill their duties. + Serves as a mentor, resource and role model to staff, promoting a collaborative, team oriented environment. + Participates in environment of care committees. + Supports or supervises facilities or engineering vendors on MVHS sites. + Is flexible and available for emergency call ins. + Performs related duties as directed. Education/Experience Requirements REQUIRED: + High School diploma required. + Minimum 5 years in building trades. + Demonstrated ability to lead, guide and motivate staff. + Knowledgeable of DNV/JCAHO environment of care code requirements. + Ability to comprehend construction drawings and manuals. + Demonstrated knowledge of technical operations (Plant operations, MEP). + Proficient with MS Office, email and maintenance ticket systems.
