This role requires solid knowledge of engineering, construction, and building inspection. The Facilities - Field Engineer will work closely with architects, contractors, project managers, and local authorities to ensure that facilities are safe, efficient, and up to standard. This position focuses especially on inspecting building exteriors and roofs, so hands-on experience with these areas and report writing is ideal. **Qualifications** To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions. **Physical Demands & Work Environment** • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to thirty-five pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to seventy-five pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation • This job is in Florida, with exposure to intense sun, intense heat, humidity, rain, thunderstorms, and other adverse weather conditions • Job site conditions may or may not be accessible by vehicle and can include wetlands, swamps, grasslands, and fields with uneven surfaces, sand, brush, and other natural and man-made obstacles • This job is primarily and regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and construction sites where the noise level is usually moderate to loud **Essential Duties and Responsibilities:** + Conduct inspections of building envelopes, including roofing, windows, and doors, to ensure compliance with industry standards and identify structural issues or defects + Perform detailed roof evaluations using RRO best practices to identify any leaks, deterioration, or damage + Gather field data through various methods (visual inspections, photographs, field tests) and record observations accurately + Compile well-organized inspection reports that summarize findings, recommendations, and corrective actions, using photographs, diagrams, and sketches to support the findings + Interact professionally with clients on-site, providing preliminary explanations of findings and addressing questions as needed + Collaborate with team members, including engineers and project managers, to ensure inspections meet project requirements and client expectations + Adhere to company safety standards and protocols to maintain safe field operations + Develop and implement engineering solutions for facility renovations, repairs, and upgrades to improve efficiency, functionality, and safety + Provide technical support on construction sites, addressing design modifications and unforeseen challenges + Coordinate and monitor construction and maintenance projects, ensuring they adhere to timelines, budgets, and quality standards + Work with architects, contractors, and stakeholders to communicate requirements, resolve on-site issues, and approve work progress + Conduct quality assurance audits to verify that building systems function optimally and meet design specifications + Identify potential risks and hazards, implementing safety measures to minimize liability and ensure a safe work environment + Stay updated on industry standards, regulations, and emerging technologies in building engineering and inspection + Train and mentor team members on best practices in building inspection, field engineering, and safety compliance + Follow all safety procedures + Perform other duties as assigned **Required Qualifications:** + Valid Florida Driver’s License with acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria) + Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification) + High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred but not required + 3-5 years of experience in facility or building envelope inspections, including hands-on roof assessment work + Registered Roof Observer (RRO) certification or equivalent experience in roof inspections + Proficient in reading and interpreting construction documents and specifications; knowledge of common materials and practices in building envelope systems + Strong written communication skills for effective report writing + Ability to work at heights, climb ladders, and perform physical tasks on-site as needed **Preferred Qualifications:** + **Engineering Intern (EI)** : Certification is a plus + Strong knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and construction materials + Proficient in field inspection tools, construction management software, and AutoCAD or similar design software + Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to make decisions in fast-paced environments + Strong written and verbal communication skills for detailed report writing and stakeholder communication + Capable of working under minimal supervision + Strong team player + Previous experience preferably in an AEC industry **Who We Are:** UES provides essential engineering services for some of the most prominent and significant projects in the nation.
