This position involves performing routine inspections and maintenance of HVAC , electrical, plumbing, and other building systems to ensure they are functioning efficiently and safely. The technician is responsible for diagnosing and repairing issues, implementing preventive maintenance schedules, and responding promptly to emergency maintenance requests. Adherence to safety regulations and protocols is crucial to maintaining a safe environment for students and staff. Additionally, the technician must maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities and communicate effectively with other staff members. This role requires a combination of technical skills, problem-solving abilities, physical stamina, and a commitment to maintaining a functional and comfortable environment for everyone in the educational institution. Candidate will be required to work a rotating shift, and may be required to work flexible hours and perform other duties as required. This position is considered as essential, and employees may be required to work as scheduled when most or all other university offices are closed due to emergency situations or natural disasters. What You’ll Do – Position Responsibilities: + Conduct routine inspections of electrical, plumbing, and other building systems to ensure they are functioning properly. + Implement and follow preventive maintenance schedules to avoid equipment breakdowns and extend the life of the building systems. + Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and perform necessary urgent repairs to buildings and/or infrastructure. + Assist craftsmen of various trades in performing repairs or maintenance as required. + Maintain detailed records of daily maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs + Perform other duties as directed. Key Competencies: + Broad general knowledge of competencies in the building trades technical field. + Familiarity with OSHA standards and other safety regulations. + Proficiency in using tools and equipment for maintenance and repairs. + Ability to diagnose and repair urgent building deficiencies. + Good verbal and written communication skills to interact with staff and document work. + Provide exemplary customer service to the staff, faculty and students. Physical Requirements: + Prolonged periods of standing and walking + Climbing ladders and stairs + Ability to reach overhead and work in awkward positions. + Good hand and eye coordination.
