Job Description

  

Job Summary:
This position is located at our facility in Hampton, VAMaintains and repairs the facility’s structure, equipment and grounds, including plumbing, electrical and HVAC. Performs skilled trades work, such as carpentry or painting in the construction, repair or alteration of structures such as walls, roofs or office fixtures. Works with manufacturing or process engineering in the installation or repair of building plumbing and wiring required in the production process. Makes periodic or special inspections of the premise to determine repair work necessary. Works from blueprints, drawings or rough sketches.

Detailed Description:

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

·         Works from Maintenance Management System (MMS) generated and written work orders, sketches, and verbal requests while adhering to all building and safety codes.

·         Performs preventive, diagnostic and maintenance repairs to facilities equipment such as air handlers, boilers, close water loop systems, humidifiers, fume hoods, exhaust fans, VFDs, compress dry air, pressurized systems, bathroom equipment, pumps, house vacuum system, RO/DI water systems, and other mechanical systems. Knowledge of HVAC and package units a plus.

·         Performs regular inert gas cylinder monitoring, maintenance and changeouts.

·         Performs regular checks and recording of pressure, temperature, weight and other instrumentation gauge and meter readings.

·         Performs basic electrical/electronic diagnostics and repairs of mechanical systems and control devices.

·         Performs office renovations such as painting, basic carpentry, carpet changes, furniture moves and other office modifications.

·         Performs plumbing installation, modification and repairs to bathroom and toilet fixtures, gas and water delivery systems, using a variety of plumbing materials such as copper, stainless steel, and plastic pipe and tubing.


Requirements:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following qualifications and competencies:

·         This is a fast-paced work environment. Must be flexible and capable of receiving new tasks, switch tasks at a moment’s notice, work independently and partner with another technician to complete priorities without sacrificing safety.

·         Able to work independently and in a team environment, as the task and team goal requires.

·         Good team player and strong interpersonal communication skills, including verbal/written communication using computers, iPads and other personal mobile devices.

·         Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel.

·         Ability to communicate in English (both verbally and written).

·         Able to work on ladders, scaffoldings, and rooftops.

·         Able to read drawings, sketches, specifications, installation layouts, process procedures, instructions to obtain locations, tolerances, adjustments, settings, and safety standards; uses gauges and meters to determine proper equipment function.

·         Able to use computers, iPads, cell phones and other mobile devices.

·         Displays exemplary ethics and business conduct and performs work cognizant of safe work practices.

·         Although site training will be provided, familiarity and ability to apply safety policies and procedures such as:

o Use and care of personal protective equipment

o Emergency evacuation and safety procedures, such as fall protection, and LockOut/TagOut, OSHA

o Use of fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, emergency showers and other safety equipment

Education and/or Experience                                                 

·         Requires a High School Diploma, technical designation of  Licensed Electrician, or Associate’s Degree in Applied Science and Electrician License  and eight or more years of work experience (or equivalent experience and education)

·         Knowledge of HVAC and package units a plus.

·         Experience working as facilities maintenance support services for manufacturing, research, or cleanroom environment a plus.
