The Facilities Maintenance Technician has responsibility and accountability for performing all preventative, on-demand and improvement maintenance activities. Additionally, the position is responsible for the upkeep, on-going maintenance and improvement of safety and security equipment. This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor position or designee.
Responsibilities Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on all commercial electrical, plumbing, HVAC systemsAssist with grounds maintenanceMonitor and maintain water systems and boiler operationsPerform Preventive Maintenance of buildings and facilities, according to facility scheduleInstallation and/or modification of new and existing equipmentPotential need for hot work/weldingAssist in maintaining critical spare parts list inventoryProcess work ordersAssist in waste treatment facility operationsPerform operations according to company SOPsMaintain communication with the Maintenance Supervisor for status of work requests and facilities through the use of CAFM system.Use of Microsoft programs including Excel, Teams, Outlook, Word, and specific company softwarePerform miscellaneous duties, on-call and weekend shifts as assignedOther duties as assignedAdditional Requirements:
Overtime and weekend work as required (on-call)Work may require the use of PPE (personal protective equipment)Work may require lifting, standing, and working around laboratory animalsAbility to read and understand information presented orally and in writingMust be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.Must have good documentation practices Qualifications Must have high school diploma (or equivalent) and current experience in facility operations and maintenance. Advanced training or certifications in electrical, HVAC, or steam boilers a plusWorking knowledge of various hand and power tools, pumps, fans, blowers, and control valvesBasic understanding of HVAC, steam boilers and facility environmental control systemsMust be able to communicate with coworkers effectively, both verbal and writtenMaintain tools, and supplies in a clean, orderly, safe conditionMust be able to work with minimal supervision and directionAbility to read, write, speak, and understand English
*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person’s relevant experience and/or education level.
