Facilities Manager

Job Summary

The Facilities Manager is responsible for supervising and directing the work of Maintenance Technicians, Custodial Supervisor, Housekeepers, and Custodial Technicians to carry out routine building & equipment maintenance, repairs, projects and to assure the highest degree of cleanliness at all University campuses and facilities whether owned or leased.  Supports the Associate Vice President of Facilities & Institutional Services (AVP) in all areas and when needed, acts in AVP’s and Custodial Supervisor's absence.

Essential Functions

Plans and coordinates work as it relates to maintaining the buildings and equipment maintenance, repairs, and cleaning. Develops and maintains schedules of preventative maintenance for applicable University equipment through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Plans and coordinates necessary training for all department staff including safety procedures, equipment operations and other pertinent procedures. Evaluates and implements safe work practices of all department staff. Supervises and directs department staff in the fulfillment of department responsibilities and assignments, within budget, with quality, and on schedule through the CMMS, including fleet maintenance of all university owned vehicles. Works on in-house special projects such as office renovations and maintains records of costs related to such projects. Maintains proper inventory to ensure adequate supply of all parts and supplies. Performs regular inspections of all areas for sanitation, repairs, order and safety. Conducts regular staff meetings to keep staff informed of new and changing procedures in cooperation with the AVP. Recommends changes in operating procedures or personnel to increase operational effectiveness. Ensures satisfactory work performance of all subordinate staff. Documents and issues employee disciplinary actions. Assumes the responsibilities and works the shift of the Custodial Supervisor in their absence. Ensures proper setup and breakdown of campus special events. Complies with OSHA and other federal, state and local laws concerning facilities, cleaning and fleet vehicles. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Associate’s Degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. Please review the  Equivalency Chart for additional information. 5 years of relevant experience with a minimum of 3-years’ experience as a Facilities supervisor or manager to include management of custodial staff/department along with proper floor care techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in vehicle/fleet services and maintenance.

Additional Information

This position is classified as exempt, grade L. Compensation for this grade ranges from $62,630 - $93,950. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
