We are currently seeking a Facilities Manager to work out of our Kitchener office.
Responsibility Act as the primary point of contact for all Facilities related matters, collaborating with internal team members and external service providers to evaluate, propose and execute solutions in a timely manner; Ensure the operation and maintenance of all MTE facilities meets or exceeds environmental, safety, building code, municipal and other related regulations, promoting a safe and healthy workplace; Coordinate repair and maintenance activities for all MTE facilities. (HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, janitorial, winter maintenance, parking etc); Develop and maintain daily, monthly, and yearly maintenance programs and schedules; Manage sub-consultants and service contracts including but not limited to confidential paper shredding, landscaping, winter maintenance, waste/recycling/compost, elevator maintenance, signage, coffee service, etc; Schedule, direct, supervise and coordinate work activities of direct reports, including management tasks related to hiring, performance management, terminations, compensation discussions, talent management, coaching, mentoring and employee relations issues; Preparation of annual operating budget and business plan for the facilities department, in consultation with the Director, Facilities & Security; Manage the execution of out-of-scope projects (such as office renovations and tenant improvement), collaborating closely with contractors and vendors to ensure adherence to timelines, budget and specifications; Work with our Joint Health Safety Committees, ensuring any facilities issues related to health and safety identified are appropriately addressed; Maintain emergency evacuation plans, floor plans and seating plans for all regional offices; Conduct annual fire drills; Build strong, collaborative relationships with service providers, key site contacts and colleagues across the organization to effectively deliver on facilities objectives; Travel between offices to address facilities concerns; and Maintain access and security systems. Requirements Minimum of 7 years demonstrated experience in planning, development and implementation of facility operation and maintenance programs and the management of service providers; Post-Secondary Certificate in Facilities Management, or equivalent is considered an asset; Working knowledge of building materials and ability to perform basic maintenance tasks in an office setting; Strong experience in budgeting and fiscal control, contract negotiation and management skills; Demonstrated knowledge of facilities planning and project management; Strong relationship building, organization, planning, analytical and problem solving skills; Knowledge of building systems including HVAC, elevators, fire protection and security; Knowledge of safety and environmental concerns, risks and liabilities; Well-developed oral, written, presentation, interpersonal communications and staff management skills; Customer service oriented; Experience in managing third-party service providers; Access to a vehicle for work related travel is required.
