Summary About the Position: This position oversees the maintenance and operation of dredging and lock/dam facilities along 1,000 miles of navigation channel. The role coordinates complex projects, ensures equipment reliability, and engages with stakeholders, including federal, state, and local agencies. The position is responsible for budget management, resource allocation, and ensuring compliance with regulations for efficient, cost-effective operations. Responsibilities Oversees a workforce ensuring effective performance, training, and compliance with policies. Manages schedules, resolves conflicts, and maintains strong relationships. Plans, coordinates, and directs dredging, maintenance, and rehabilitation projects across 1,000 miles of navigation channel. Ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet regulatory and safety standards. Engages with federal, state, and local agencies, tribal representatives, contractors, and community groups to solve problems, negotiate agreements, and ensure compliance with Corps policies regarding navigation and environmental protection. Directs maintenance activities for dredging equipment, locks, dams, and floating plant, ensuring optimal performance through preventive maintenance, repairs, and timely replacements. Manages resources and personnel to meet operational needs. Manages a multi-year O and M and CG funded budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources for maintenance, dredging, and rehabilitation projects. Oversees plant replacement and improvement programs to maintain operational capabilities. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Performing personnel tasks, such as performance evaluations, training, directing teams, providing guidance, and/or resolving conflicts; 2) managing maintenance and/or dredging projects; 3) allocating resources and/or adjusting plans; 4) maintaining dredging equipment, locks, dams, and/or mechanical systems; 5) managing maintenance budgets. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the GS-12 (or above) grade/level in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Leadership Oral Communication Program/Project Management Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12). Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
