Facilities Mechanical Engineer
Facilities Mechanical Engineer Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Mechanical Engineer with experience in mechanical systems design and maintenance. The ideal candidate will hold a Mechanical Engineering degree and have at least 5 years of relevant experience. This role demands expertise in fluid mechanics, strength of materials, and proficiency in the design of mechanical systems including chillers, cooling towers, pumps, boilers, and HVAC systems. Responsibilities: + Manage and provide support for mechanical systems, including chillers, cooling towers, supply distribution piping and pumps, air compressors and dryers, air-handlers, make-up air units, VFDs, boilers, exhaust fans, heat exchangers, tanks, process cooling water, and DI water systems. + Adapt to meet company needs in a large, complex environment. + Collaborate closely with multiple departments to support the design, operation, and maintenance of manufacturing assets across various locations. + Design mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and complete machine assemblies, presenting results in 3D drawings using GD&T standards. + Design piping systems including material selection, pump/line sizing calculations, valve sizing, component selection, and present results in process flow diagrams, piping & instrumentation diagrams, and 3D piping drawings with bills of materials. + Assist cross-functional teams using structured problem-solving methods to determine root causes of chronic manufacturing problems and identify cost-effective solutions. + Manage capital projects of unlimited size, including design reviews, cost estimates, design and installation specifications, scheduling, communication, factory and site acceptance testing, safety audits, and financial accounting. + Provide on-site supervision and technical support during emergency maintenance events 24/7. Essential Skills: + Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering + 5 years of relevant experience + Proficiency in mechanical systems design (chillers, cooling towers, pumps, boilers, HVAC, etc.) + Experience with fluid mechanics and strength of materials + Strong design skills in mechanical systems + Proficiency in SolidWorks + Knowledge of piping design and engineering Additional Skills & Qualifications: + Experience with electrical systems + Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) standards + Ability to manage capital projects + Strong problem-solving skills Work Environment: This role is based in a manufacturing facility. The work environment includes exposure to various mechanical systems and may require on-site supervision during emergency maintenance events.
