**Minimum Qualifications:**
High School diploma or recognized equivalent and journeyman level trade or craft with 6 years experience. Must be capable of demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of the job in a post-offer employment test as administered by UTMB Rehab Services. This job requires the ability to lift up to 100 lbs. floor to knuckle and requiresfrequent bending, standing, and walking.
**Licenses, Certifications or Certifications**
**Required:**
Training or licensure provided by one of the following:
+ Texas State License
+ NCCER Certification
+ UTMB-approved certifications
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Experience with automated doors and control and a strong background in electrical circuits relating to door automation
+ State of Texas Master Electrician’s License or Journeyman’s License with 10+ years’ experience
+ Experience with generators, transfer switches, and paralleling gear
+ Experience installing or maintaining hospital electrical systems
+ Knowledge and experience with VFDs and controls
**Job Summary:**
Perform at a journeyman level in at least three (3) distinct industrial/commercial trade crafts as approved by Facilities Operations and Management (Physical Plant Maintenance) or master level in one or more of the following trades/crafts (Plumbing, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation/Electronics, HVAC, Structural, Refrigeration, Electronics/Fire Alarms).
Must have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Joint Commission requirements and standards, NFPA 101 2012, NFPA 110 2012 NFPA 99 2012, Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI), and ASHRAE/ASHE Standard 170.
**Job Duties:**
+ Performs journeyman or master-level work in the designing, construction, installation, programming, maintenance, and operation of specialized systems of UTMB.
+ Coordinates commissioning of specialized systems on new construction or renovation projects.
+ Maintains proper building operating parameters to maintain the integrity of specialized systems.
+ Creates spreadsheets and/or maintains records for reporting requirements.
+ Confers with users and management in order to gain an understanding of their needs and/or provides technical advice.
+ Uses system expert skills and current diagnostic techniques to identify equipment problems and repairs.
+ Proctors staff in proper maintenance strategies and assists with training requirements.
+ Makes recommendations for scope, major repairs, and budget on equipment purchases and installs.
+ Reads and interprets technical manuals. Also, provides “marked up” blueprints/drawings for corrections when needed.
+ Performs work from written or verbal instructions, specifications, blueprints, or wiring diagrams.
+ Designs and performs advanced predictive maintenance on specialized equipment and systems.
+ Creates and implements standard operating procedures (SOPs) for specialized equipment and systems.
+ Proactively maintains all aspects of assigned area of responsibility and serves as a liaison between area technicians, customers, and Facilities management.
+ In addition to regular shifts, provides support/ response to the institution that operates 24 hours a day seven days a week.
+ Participate in disaster/hurricane preparedness list i.e., E1A (Ride out team) or E1B (Recovery tea
+ Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
+ Assist with programming and training of handheld work order system devices.
**WORKING ENVIRONMENT/EQUIPMENT LOCATION OF POSITION:**
Standard hospital, clinical, laboratory and/or office environments. May be exposed to such occupational hazards such as communicable diseases and harmful chemicals. Some exposure to weather and physical hazards. Exposure to mechanical and electrical hazards and may be required to work in high locations or crawlspaces.
• Exposure to areas under construction.
• Usual working conditions found in craft shops and mechanical rooms.
• Exposure to adverse weather conditions or temperature extremes.
•Exposure to electrical/mechanical hazards.
•Proper safety and precaution must be closely observed when operating and repairing specialized equipment and systems.
• Climb ladders and stairways and work on building rooftops of high elevation.
•Work in confined spaces such as ceilings, under floor crawlspaces, and manholes.
**Salary Range:**
Actual salary commensurate with experience.
**Work Schedule:**
Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm and as needed on occasion. May be required to work extended hours or rotating shifts.
