As a Facilities Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and assuring the quality of critical systems like initial and ongoing quality of such systems as fire protection, smoke control, oxygen displacement monitoring, water quality, overhead safety, and more. The role is unique, not only because of the diversity of systems and projects but also because our engineers are involved as thought partners from the earliest stages of development and are empowered to take action on ongoing projects and maintenance.
This is a Project Hire with no guarantee of permanent placement with an estimated end date of 9/27/2025.
The Facilities Quality Engineer will report to Manager, Quality Engineering.
What You Will DoOn any given day, as a Facilities Quality Engineer, you might:
Support the quality programs and accountability for various facility assets in amusement facilities and resorts, including overhead safety, poles and free-standing structures, fall protection railings and balconies, character façades and rockwork, fire protection and smoke control, oxygen displacement monitoring systems, swimming pools, playgrounds, and water quality.Participate in periodic smoke control & emergency power testing and maintenanceApply state, local and industry standards for life safety systemsSupport clear and consistent strategies for alternate means and methods to solve for conflicting requirementsUnderstand and review system designs including calculations, drawings, and submittals developed by project design teams for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with Disney standards and guiding principlesSupport requirements and processes and for periodic testing, critical equipment checks, inspections and maintenance procedures based on the design, manufacturers requirements, applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards to adequately mitigate any hazards and risks that have been identifiedSupport a framework for identifying and recording the completion of all necessary documentation, including drawings, manuals, and procedures, training, and certifications to permit and ensure the safe use of the systems by cast members and guests.Survey and review the consistency, accuracy and completeness of documents, procedures, and training, prior to commissioning and while in-use, communicating and addressing any discrepancies for corrective purposesEstablish and maintain excellent relationships with Project Team, Operations, Engineering Services, Safety, and regulators (AHJ)Provide field engineering support, including technical guidance for inspection, testing, and maintenanceSupport investigations including root cause and failure analysisRequired Qualifications & SkillsHere’s what you need to be successful at this job:
Minimum 2 or more years of experience in Engineering, showing increasing levels of responsibilityKnowledge of Building and Fire Codes and NFPA Codes and StandardsWorking knowledge of AutoCAD/RevitExperience with design, installation and commissioning of complex systems that meet regulatory and industrial standardsExperience with investigations, root cause analysis, and hazard assessmentsKnowledge of AutoCAD, and MS OfficeAbility to manage, balance, and prioritize different projectsProven strong written and verbal communication skills; able to present complex data relationship in concise and straight forward presentationsAbility to work after hours and off-shift hours as the need arisesPreferred QualificationsIt would be great if you also have:
Specific experience with theme parks, resort hotels, and mixed-use facilitiesKnowledgeable in OSHA complianceExperience with codes and standards development, including committee involvement (e.g. NFPA, ASTM, ICC, CFR, etc.)Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer License (state of Florida)Required EducationBachelor's Degree in Engineering
Preferred EducationBachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural or Fire Protection Engineering or related field
