Your Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
We are looking for a skilled maintenance professional to perform maintenance, repair, and upkeep duties and responsibilities for the Florida Department of Health in Duval County. This rewarding position will work under the direct supervision of the Officer Operations Manager II - SES. All tasks and responsibilities will be performed by following all established policies, procedures, and safety standards. The incumbent of this position will perform a variety of duties and tasks including but not limited to the following:
+ Performs unscheduled interior and exterior building repairs including but not limited to; repairing or replacing door and lock sets, replacing light bulbs, fixtures and HVAC filters.
+ Performs scheduled maintenance on buildings and equipment as assigned or scheduled by supervisor.
+ Installs ceiling grids, preps, and paints interior and exterior surfaces.
+ Assist maintenance by performing minor adjustments and assembly of furniture.
+ Operates tools related to performance of specific assigned duties, including but not limited to power tools, key cutting machine, wrenches and other hand tools.
+ Services, repairs, and cleans equipment and machinery.
+ Performs minor routine painting, plumbing (clearing or unclogging of debris) or related issues.
This position will be required to perform various physical tasks which may require moving, pushing, pulling, and lifting objects (of varying weight), and climbing, which may include the following:
+ Moving/relocating furniture or other heavy equipment and materials at diverse sites.
+ Moves items between departments manually or using floats, dollies, and hand trucks.
+ Sets up, arranges, and removes tables and chairs for events such as awards ceremonies, etc.
+ Mount items to walls, etc. which may include using a variety of hand and power tools.
The incumbent will be responsible for mowing the lawn, trimming shrubbery, and clearing debris from the grounds.
+ Must be proficient at using equipment such as mowers, hand trimmers, and power trimmers.
+ Maintains all lawn equipment.
+ Sprays insecticides and fumigates as needed to prevent insect and rodent infestation.
+ Pick-up debris at sites as needed.
+ Use a blower to remove all leaves, etc., in breezeway and areas surrounding facilities.
+ Conduct weekly preventative maintenance inspections and basic repairs on equipment.
Other duties include:
+ The incumbent will be required to drive a one (1) ton cargo van. Florida Administrative Code Section 215.422 F.S. and Chapter 3A-24.
+ Responsible for performing daily inspections and servicing of vehicles such as checking water, adding fuel, oil, water, and air to tires.
+ Inspects and ensures assigned vehicle is in full operational status and reports to Fleet Management, Vehicle Coordinator and Supervisor if any repairs are needed.
+ Maintains cleanliness of interior and exterior of assigned vehicle.
+ Reports to General Services office all preventative maintenance, repairs, or problems with the operation of the DOHD/COJ vehicle.
+ Completes vehicle daily log form and submits monthly to the Vehicle Coordinator by the 5th day of the month.
+ Perform travel as instructed, in relation to above duties and for professional development.
+ Completes computerized training modules, and other tasks online as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Ability to operate a computer independently and to complete computerized training modules.
+ Ability to work independently and flexible.
+ Skilled at being task oriented, self-motivated, and timely with an attention to detail.
+ Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products including Outlook, Word, and Excel
+ Must be able to communicate professionally both orally and electronically.
+ Must be able to complete physical tasks such as walking, pushing, pulling, climbing, twisting, kneeling, standing, and able to lift 50 lbs.
+ Ability to maintain a valid and unencumbered State of Florida driver’s license.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
+ High School Diploma or Equivalent.
+ Valid State of Florida driver’s license
Preferred:
+ Experience doing basic facility maintenance and repair work.
+ Experience and knowledge of basic vehicle and equipment maintenance
+ Experience conducting safety and maintenance inspections.
+ Knowledge and/or experience in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, groundskeeping, HVAC, etc.
