The Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute A James Clark School of Engineering University of Maryland seeks a Facilities Specialist to provide general maintenance and support for Mtechs facilities across multiple buildings This role involves performing routine upkeep lab support monitoring building conditions shipping amp receiving event setupcleanup and addressing maintenance requests The specialist will work closely with both of Mtechs Building Managers to ensure timely completion of work orders and maintain communication with building occupants Additionally the role requires shadowing Mtech operations staff to gain deeper knowledge of facility operations and learning how to navigate the universitys work order system Strong customer service skills and the ability to handle basic maintenance tasks are essential along with occasional transportation of materials between campus locations Some specific responsibilities include but not limited to Provide basic carpentry support for all of Mtechs facilities including minor wall repairs painting mounting whiteboards etc Basic knowledge of a pneumatic HVAC system Perform basic maintenance tasks such as battery replacements ceiling tile replacements tube light replacement mopping up spills Walkthrough of buildings multiple times a day based on building schedule to check for leaks issues and make sure doors are closed and locked Support with lab maintenance agreements General maintenance for lab equipment Shipping and receiving of packages Event setup and cleanup This position does not provide sponsorship for visasThe A James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland catalyzes high quality research innovation and learning preparing our students to create innovations that will address the 21st century Grand Challenges eg energy environment security and human health and improve the human condition The Clark School is dedicated to leading and transforming the engineering discipline and profession accelerating entrepreneurship and transforming research and learning activities into innovations that benefit millions
