The Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), an affiliate of the City of Hope, has an opening for a Facilities Technician I. TGen is an Arizona-based, nonprofit medical research institute founded in 2002, dedicated to conducting groundbreaking research with life-changing results. TGen is headquartered in Phoenix and TGen North, the Pathogen and Microbiome Division, is in Flagstaff.
For over 20 years, the Facilities Department has performed an essential function at TGen providing vital services to administrative and research staff, ensuring the physical spaces are well maintained, and supporting the environmental health and safety program to ensure a safe and compliant workplace.
The Facilities Technician I will report to the Manager of Facilities and will execute the following duties:
Conduct routine facility maintenance activities and perform building refresh activities including painting, floor/carpet cleaning (supplemental to janitorial services), wall/trim repair, and fixing broken assets such as doors, faucets and more.Receive, ship, and deliver supplies, packages, specimens, inter-departmental and USPS mail. Escort guests, vendors and catering, providing minimal off-site support as needed.Conduct personnel moves, office and laboratory configurations, and training room, break room, and conference room setup for vendors.Clean and sterilize labware for researchers; change out gas cylinders; fill liquid nitrogen dewars. Coordinate the pick-up and storage of regulated medical and chemical waste.Conduct routine maintenance of safety equipment (eyewashes, showers, AEDs); participate in safety and compliance training. Maintain cold storage equipment (liquid nitrogen, freezers, cold rooms, etc.) including responding to temperature alarms. Assist with TGen vehicle maintenance. Liaison with security, engineering, janitorial, and property management personnel.
