Job Summary and Description:

Looking for experienced Ultrapure Water engineers to be part of the design, construction, commissioning, and sustaining operations for our new innovative manufacturing Fab and existing technology development fab in Boise, ID. The Ultrapure Water Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., is responsible for working in a team environment with parallel engineering subject areas, to analyze operational efficiency activities, identify cost effective sustaining and manufacturing improvements and provide design input on projects. Will provide engineering design input, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of the UPW and water reclaim systems. This position works directly with the operations team and technicians monitoring system parameters via intelligent systems such as SPC/IOT and SCADA, ensuring they are running within specifications. This posting requires a hard work ethic and diligent attention to detail. The Facilities Ultrapure Water Engineer must have the pertinent communication skills that enable the coordination with other system owners, maintenance crews and construction trades to drive projects and daily tasks. Will be responsible for working with the vendors to develop operations and maintenance documentation, collaborate with vendors providing services, engineering for projects and changes and ensuring systems are operating within specifications. Provides design engineering support for existing system modification, upgrades and new equipment installations. 

Engineering support and oversite of Design, Construction, Commissioning of Ultrapure Water systems including:

Review of vendor provided design drawings and specifications for completeness and accuracyReview of equipment configuration and distribution routing of systems relative to functionality, egress, ease of maintenance requirements, constructability, alignment with P&ID's, etc.Validation of engineering calculationsReview and approval of equipment and component submittals in coordination with O&M staffReview and validation of construction RFI responsesReview and approval of shop drawings and construction modelsField engineering QA during constructionCommissioning supportEntry of system information into a capacity planning softwareAdditional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Safety & Quality:

Finishes the required safety training and conducts all work in accordance with Micron and Technology Development (TD) safety policiesApplies and reviews job hazard analysis (JHA/JSA) for work being performedFollows all safety and environmental procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations including PPE, CoHE (lockout /tagout) and chemical safetyFollows-up on safety and quality related issues immediately and works towards resolution with collaboratorsActively participates in the EHS problems by reporting all EHS-related concerns or problemsAlways wears appropriate PPE, per JHA, supervisor, EHS professionals, and/or job designationProactively finds opportunities to reduce potential hazards which may impact personnel health and/or the environmentDrives quality improvement initiatives in their area to reduce Fab impacts, improve efficiency and identify cost savingsOperates and maintains equipment and tools within manufacturer’s and company guidelines to ensure safety and quality expectations are metEnsures area-specific procedures and documents exist and submits updates to content when neededUnderstands and enforces hazardous energy isolation and lockout/tagout proceduresPartners with site PHA (Process Hazard Analysis) to assess risk and replacement of end of life equipment itemsPartners with site PSM team for management of Facilities equipment

Communication & Collaboration:

Ensures appropriate communication with facilities and manufacturing team membersPartners with key collaborators to develop solutions to continuously improve critical metricsCollaborates with global teams and partners to resolve equipment/process issues and improve system stabilityCommunicates proactively with leaders and customers on the daily priorities and issuesAttends and participates in meetings and provides relevant technical recommendationsPartners with area leaders and customers to gather input for area improvementCommunicates changes made to equipment and follows business rules for change controlPartners in data collection, gap analysis, and improvement implementationProactively communicates issues that could cause Fab impact, defects, tool restrictions, or lost movesCoordinates with team members and leaders on issues and changes, and provides regular status updatesBroadens cross-disciplinary knowledge through new assignmentsListens to customer feedback, recognizes opportunities and provides opportunities for technical innovationExchanges sophisticated information with colleagues and managersProvides advice and guidance to less experienced team members

Project Management/Planning:

Applies a systematic project management methodology to develop, prioritize and manage projectsWorks closely with Design and Projects teams to ensure work is completed within the required scope, schedule and budgetTracks actions and provides the path or resources to ensure actions will be completed on timeCollaborates with partners on the design and coordination of projectsCoordinates and leads meetings and initiates follow-up actionsProvides support for the installation or commissioning of new facilities infrastructureProvides support for cost and schedule estimates and justification for approvalReviews design packages ensuring specifications are met and cost reduction improvements are identifiedSupports equipment startup and commissioningCoordinates and leads cost reduction projectsCollaborates on lessons learned to improve and prevent future problems 

Qualifications:

Excellent multi-tasking, time-management, organization and prioritization skillsProven skills in working effectively with team members from different fieldsDemonstrated ability to organize and efficiently facilitate meetings and project teamsDemonstrated strong written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated ability to follow sophisticated procedures, and work with minimal supervisionDemonstrated ability to identify, develop, propose, and implement effective plans to improve overall efficiencyProven ability to communicate and present technical information effectively to all audiencesDemonstrated knowledge of safety codes and regulations

Education and Experience:

Required: Minimum – Relevant Bachelor’s degree or experience; Chemical, or Environmental engineering, Chemistry, or related field of studyRequired: Three or more years of relative experiencePreferred: Master’s degree in engineering and/or your discipline specific Professional Engineer certificationPreferred: Three or more years of Facilities/Plant Operations experience in semiconductor manufacturing
