Basic Purpose
This position is responsible for the upkeep, security, and safety of the all corps property. The position will also aid in providing a safe and dependable transportation in accordance with Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements and to enhance the
programs and ministries of the Corps.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Janitorial
• Keep all areas of corps building clean and sanitary
• Clean appliances on a regular basis or more often as needed
• Responsibility for ensuring that exterior of facility and grounds are kept clean and clear of debris
• Handyman
• Make minor repairs to lighting, fencing, other property as needed
• Paint building as needed
• Perform light plumbing repairs
• Ensure all equipment, lighting, doors and other parts of facility are in working order
• Fleet Management
• Ensure fleet is in top operating condition
• Manage regular and required maintenance on all vehicles
• Maintain relationship with auto repair shop
• General
• Keep maintenance room tidy, organized
• Maintain inventory of tools and maintenance equipment
• Help with Christmas and Thanksgiving efforts as needed
• Pick up food donations as well as other driving duties as needed
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS Education Requirements
Possession of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle means (list may not be exhaustive)
1. Must be 21 years or older; and possess a valid California Driver License.
2. Must pass Background Check.
3. Complete The Salvation Army (TSA) Decision Driving course and
4. Authorize TSA to add name to CA DMV pull list for Driving records.
Skills
1. Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbal and written.
2. Must be proficient in basic computer skills and possess the ability to learn additional computer technology.
D. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
2. Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects
3. Ability to reach overhead
4. Ability to operate telephone
5. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
6. Ability to operate a computer
7. Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information
8. Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools PC, Fax Machine, Telephone, Calculator, Copier, Printer
9. Miscellaneous office equipment including but not limited to staplers, three-hole punch, etc.
