Facility Plumber
**Job Title: Facility Plumber** **Job Description** Candidates will be assigned to our Detroit Location. They will be expected to perform service work and repairs on plumbing equipment. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and diagnosing issues, then making the necessary repairs. Work will be conducted on rooftops and within the facility, requiring climbing ladders and using lifts. The job schedule is M-F, 40 hours a week with some OT/Weekends. Must have a valid Journeyman's OR Masters License 1- 3rd shift openings 10p-6:30a 1 - 2nd shift openings 2p-10:30p Possibly a 1st shift opening 6a-2:30p Additional responsibilities as per the resume of a current Factory Zero plumber include: - Maintaining records of all repairs made on equipment, including parts used. - Observing safety precautions while working with hazardous chemicals. - Conducting routine inspections of plumbing systems to ensure proper functioning. - Diagnosing problems with plumbing systems by listening for leaks, inspecting exposed pipes, testing pressure gauges, and running diagnostic tests. - Assisting in the installation of boilers and other large-scale plumbing projects. - Providing technical advice regarding design specifications for new installations. - Participating in regular training sessions to stay up-to-date on industry changes. - Installing and maintaining water supply systems, including pumps, valves, piping, tanks, fixtures, and other related equipment. - Fabricating and assembling pipe sections for steam and hot-water heating systems. - Repairing or replacing worn parts such as washers, gaskets, and seals in plumbing system components. - Inspecting drainage and sewer lines to detect blockages or leaks using video cameras. - Connecting pipes to gas meters, regulators, and appliances such as stoves and water heaters according to local codes. - Constructing water distribution systems from blueprints. - Cutting openings in structures to accommodate pipes or pipe fittings using power saws or hand tools. - Performing maintenance on plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, bathtubs, showers, disposals, and dishwashers. - Determining the location of existing underground utilities prior to excavation work. - Installing backflow preventers in accordance with state regulations. - Testing pipe systems for proper functioning after installation or repair. - Reading blueprints to determine the layout of plumbing systems, identifying required materials, measuring distances between cutting points, and calculating angles for connections. - Assembling valves and hangers for new installations and repairing existing ones. - Replacing broken drain lines using appropriate materials such as copper tubing or PVC piping. - Communicating with customers regarding recommendations on repairs, replacements, and upgrades of plumbing equipment. - Assembling and installing metal and nonmetal valves, pipe fittings, and pipes. - Cutting openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings. - Following relevant codes, regulations, and safety techniques. - Identifying and locating required tools prior to starting each project. - Testing piping systems with water and air pressure to maintain balance and accuracy. - Studying blueprints and inspecting structures to assess material and equipment needs, pipe installation sequence, and installation around possible obstructions. - Assisting with troubleshooting and using alternative methods in emergency situations. - Using power tools to create assemblies and sub-assemblies. - Cutting and fitting pipes to established measurements. - Maintaining tools and equipment to keep supplies in excellent working condition. - Recommending measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance. - Hoisting loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment. - Cutting and beveling piping using cutting torches, saws, and threading machines. - Completing walk-throughs of completed systems to verify code adherence. - Locating and repairing leaks in water supply lines. - Supervising staff and evaluating work performance. - Studying building plans and other materials to determine work aids required and proper installation sequences. - Preparing project bids and gathering parts, labor, and equipment needed for projects. - Performing pipe fabrication, installation, and fitting according to proper specifications. - Cutting diverse pipe sizes and lengths to prepare for installation. - Inspecting installations to repair leaks and make adjustments to pipes. - Verifying and gathering measurements to determine proper piping sizes. - Cutting or threading pipes to blueprint or drawing specifications. **Hard Skills** + Plumbing + Troubleshooting + Mechanical **Job Type** This is a permanent position. **Work Site** This is a fully on-site position in Detroit, Michigan. **Work Environment** Large Industrial Plant for EV's. **About Aerotek:** We know that finding work is hard, and finding meaningful work is harder.
