Here is some of what you will do:

Oversee and monitor the operation and make adjustments to refrigeration, heat exchanger, HVAC, electrical, emergency backup systems, and hot water systemsMonitors operation, adjusts and maintains refrigeration, chilled water, and air conditioning equipmentBoilers, ventilating, and hot water heatersPumps, valves, piping and filtersOther mechanical and electrical equipmentRecord readings and make adjustments where necessary to ensure proper operation of equipment.Requires the ability to analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions, and take corrective action.Performs preventive maintenance on all base building and critical system equipment which includes but is not limited to assembling all tools, supplies, and instruments necessary to complete the job, performing work with a minimum amount of disruption, conducting immediate clean up of work area, completing the preventive task sheet, returning tools to workshop, and unused supplies to store room, reporting any impending supply or material shortages to the Operations Manager or Lead Engineer of any equipment problems.Install and repair plumbing/piping/tubing; wire single and three-phase motorsRun conduitPull wiring to machinery, motors, operating parts, etc.Install and rebuild pumps and motors; install and rebuild air compressors; heat exchangersReplace bearings in all types of motorsReplace seals on pumps; install and repair piping, valves, filters, hot water systems, and associated controlsAssist other mechanics and operators with major repairs and maintenance of buildings and equipment.Installs, repairs, and maintains electrical controls, switching, and motor controlsComplies with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.Maintains a clean and safe workspace.Performs other duties as assigned.

Here is who should apply:

Required

High school diploma or GEDWashington State valid driver's license2+ years’ experience in building engineering including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, BAS systems, and emergency backup systems.Experience in a steam plantKnowledge of OSHA standards and local codes.Must be proficient in basic computer applications and software such as MS Office, Lotus, E-Mail, etc.Universal CFCCity of Seattle Refrigeration Operator LicenseAn Electrical 07 license or a training cardCity of Seattle Grade 3 Grade Steam license

Preferred

2+ years of related trade schooling or two years of collegeBuilding operating experience in a healthcare setting

Physical environment

Ability to frequently walk up and down stairs for inspections and emergency procedure practice or implementation.Ability to climb ladders up to 40 feet and lift 60 lbs repeatedly.Ability to detect emergency alarms - auditory and/or visual.Equipment inspections require getting on hands and knees to reach areas difficult to access.

Estimated total compensation for this position:

3,123.00 – 31.23 USD per year

The total compensation range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on an applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data .
