Factory Zero Security Chief
Job Description

Work Arrangement:

This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Factory Zero location on a full-time basis.

The Role:

The Security Chief's main duty is to support all assigned security and fire protection activities at Factory Zero for GM. Duties include providing day to day oversight of security department operations and direction to the security supplier team on goals and objectives. You will act as the liaison between the GM Plant Team and the Security Supplier Team, while carrying out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical, and professional manner.

Additional Responsibilities Include:

You will assure compliance with General Motors Global Security Manual and local site specific Standard Operating ProceduresCollaborate with the GM Plant Director, HR, Sustainable Workplaces, Workplace Safety and Manufacturing Engineering.Evaluate risks to ensure adequate coverage and ensure security supplier staffing meets GM requirements for assigned General Motors site(s).Advise management of emergency situations and helps ensure the security supplier team responds appropriately.Research and make recommendations on the implementation of the best demonstrated practices and other key initiatives.Interface with plant / site management regarding security and fire prevention services, identifies problem areas, provides recommendations for security solutions, and takes corrective action.Review the training of the security supplier team to ensure training meets General Motors requirements.Follow-up with other members of the GM Global Security Operations to discuss progress and related issues, assuring deadlines are met and consistency of practices exists.Conduct quarterly and annual reviews utilizing the Security Compliance System.Maintain Corrective Actions and Recommendations.Support in completion of the annual site vulnerability assessment to ensure General Motors compliance and provides recommendation on operations, policy, and technology applications to plant / site management.Ensure General Motors is billed accurately for Security Services by conducting billing audits to ensure compliance.Develop, maintain, and coordinate effective communication with outside emergency agencies (e.g. Federal/State/Local).Maintain data and records following General Motors Record Retention guidelines and requirements.Assure that all incidents are reported, documented, and communicated in accordance with procedures.Maintain basic first aid and CPR certifications.Ensure hot work permit process is properly administered and maintained.

Qualifications:

Five years of progressively responsible, security related experienceFour-year college degree is preferredDemonstrated understanding of security operations.Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under general supervision.Strong analytical skills needed to analyze complex data and develop reasonable analysis, appropriate conclusions and/ or innovative solutions.Demonstrates planning, organizational and project management skills.Strong managerial skills and the ability to assert oneself.Ability to act decisively in emergency situations.Ability to physically respond to all medical emergencies.Ability to assist in facilitating progressive change.Strong diplomacy skills and sensitivity protocol.Working knowledge of card access, security, and safety systems.
