Faculty Assistant
This position is part of the Maryland Consumer Health Information Hub team in the UMD Horowitz Center for Health Literacy Please see the Horowitz Center website for information about the Center the Hub and its activities and the authorizing legislation The Partner Outreach Faculty Assistant will plan collect feedback and revise and implement the Hubs activities in collaboration with other Hub team members This position has a primary and secondary purpose The primary purpose is to build relationships and share Hub strategies and resources with Maryland local health departments Local Health Improvement Coalitions LHICs K 12 schools colleges and universities and healthcare organizations and providers The Partner Outreach specialist will attend LHIC meetings and events community events conferences and meetings convened by Hub partner organizations and identify and report back the partner organizations challenges barriers and successes in implementing Hub tools and resources The Community Partner Outreach Assistant will work closely with the Information Outreach Assistant to plan and manage organizational contacts and relationships The Community Partner Outreach Assistant will be primarily responsible for Maryland local health departments Local Health Improvement Coalitions LHICs K 12 schools colleges and universities and healthcare organizations and providers The secondary purpose of this position is to develop and deliver consumerpatient focused presentations on how to search for and evaluate the quality and suitability of health information and services These presentations may be in person virtual and hybrid and will likely happen in close coordination with Hub partner organizations The Partner Outreach Faculty Assistant will build on existing Hub resources and work with Hub team members and partner organizations to customize presentations for different public audiencesDuties Participate in team meetings and coordinate with Hub team members Participate in 1 2 annual in person Hub convenings Inform supervisors of partnerships work products deadlines and roadblocks or challenges Contribute to Hub tracking and reports Collaborate with the Information Outreach Faculty Assistant to develop a partnership plan including a tracking system and schedule and ask for feedback from internal and external colleagues Attend and report back on LHIC meetings and events community events conferences and meetings convened by Hub partner organizations Recommend to the Hub team the training criteria best practices certifications and other tools that partners need to provide plain language and language access in their communities Present the Hub to partners and triage technical assistance requests to Hub team members Promote language access strategies to partner organizations Develop and deliver in person virtual and hybrid consumerpatient focused presentations on how to search for and evaluate the quality and suitability of health information and services Other duties as assigned
