**Faculty Director of Arts Learning**
The University of Michigan Arts Initiative seeks a Faculty Director of Arts Learning to support access to arts learning for all U-M students across the University of Michigan ecosystem. This is a 25% administrative position open to a current, tenured faculty member. Building on the University's core commitment to the arts in its Vision 2034 strategic plan, the Faculty Director of Arts Learning will report to the Arts Initiative's own Executive Director and collaborate on strategy to increase access to and raise awareness of arts learning opportunities for all U-M students. The director will work in partnership with faculty and leadership across U-M's schools and colleges to generate and implement ideas. The director will support the efforts of campus arts units (especially LSA, SMTD, Stamps, and Taubman, as well as UMMA and UMS) and will coordinate with other campus units, including but not limited to Engineering, Business, Medicine, science programs, etc. This position complements and coordinates with the Arts Initiative's Director for Student Engagement, a staff member who fosters co-curricular student arts activity.
**Responsibilities***
**Duties and Responsibilities.** The Faculty Director of Arts Learning has the following duties and responsibilities:
+ Coordinate and collaborate with curricular units across U-M to identify and reduce barriers to foster greater access to arts learning
+ Work with the Arts Initiative team to raise student awareness of arts learning opportunities
+ Manage the Arts Initiative's annual Arts & Creativity Honors Cord program
+ Manage the Arts Initiative's Course Connections grant program
+ Develop a course development funding program to encourage the creation of innovative and interdisciplinary arts learning opportunities
+ Forge connections between Arts Initiative programs and campus learning
+ Nurture faculty development opportunities to enhance arts integrative teaching skills and tactics
+ Meet with faculty to offer advice and foster opportunities for arts learning
+ Represent the needs of student learners in the Arts Initiative's ongoing strategic planning work
**Eligibility**
Applicants must already hold a tenured faculty position within the University of Michigan.
**Work Schedule**
**Appointment**
We anticipate a 25% administrative appointment with a two or thee-year term commencing July 1, 2025. The possibility of a renewal will be considered. The role will be administratively housed within the Arts Initiative and the position would report to the initiative's Executive Director.
**Modes of Work**
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.
