Faculty Lecturer, Department of Bioengineering
The Department of Bioengineering at the Faculty of Engineering, McGill University invites applications for a full-time, one-year Faculty Lecturer position (with two-year renewal option upon satisfactory performance and funding availability) with the expertise to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in bioengineering. The expected appointment start date is December 1st, 2024.
The Department focuses on three major directions: biological materials and mechanics; biomolecular and cellular engineering; and biomedical, diagnostics and high throughput screening.
The Department is committed to excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels and values service to the Department, Faculty and University as well as service to the profession and society at large. The successful candidate will pay a leading role in teaching Bioengineering undergraduate and graduate courses. Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to) the following
Contribute to the development and delivery of the undergraduate and graduate courses and programs.Teach courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level (a minimum of 15 credits but not more than 18 credits per academic year). Implement appropriate assessment tools for each course.Ensure that course content and delivery maintain high academic standards.Implement strategies to support equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in teaching and learning activities.Review course evaluations and identify and propose areas of improvement.Ensure that university and department policies, guidelines, and procedures are met.Serve on the departmental Program Committee and on other committees as needed.Participate in communication with appropriate professional associations and business organizations to ensure that departmental programs are in alignment with industry needs.Support and be involved in other activities or projects as required, e.g., grant applications, supervision of teaching labs, initiatives to improve pedagogy in the department.
