Position: Associate Dean and Professor - Biobanking
The University of Pittsburgh and UPMC invites applications for the position of Associate Dean and Professor specializing in Biobanking. This leadership role requires a visionary academic and clinical expert to advance the university’s biobanking initiatives. The successful candidate will oversee administrative, research, clinical, and academic functions, fostering innovation, collaboration, and excellence within this vital field.
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative Leadership:
Provide strategic oversight of biobanking operations, including infrastructure, compliance, and policy development.Develop and manage budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation for biobanking programs and associated departments.Foster partnerships with industry, government, and other academic institutions to enhance biobanking capabilities.Oversee regulatory compliance, including ethical standards, patient privacy, and data security protocols.Research Leadership:
Drive cutting-edge research in biobanking, precision medicine, and related biomedical fields.Secure external funding through grants and partnerships to support research initiatives.Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration to advance the integration of biobanking data into translational research.Publish high-impact research and contribute to the field’s body of knowledge.Clinical Integration:
Collaborate with healthcare providers to align biobanking initiatives with clinical care and patient outcomes.Ensure biobanking resources are utilized to support personalized medicine and innovative treatments.Promote the integration of biobanking resources into clinical trials and other applied research efforts.Academic Excellence:
Mentor faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and students in biobanking and related disciplines.Develop and enhance educational programs, including courses and training opportunities in biobanking, genomics, and bioinformatics.Represent the University of Pittsburgh at national and international academic forums.Strengthen the university’s reputation as a leader in biobanking through scholarly contributions and thought leadership.Qualifications:
A Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant biomedical science or clinical discipline.Significant experience in biobanking, translational research, and academic leadership.Proven track record of securing research funding and publishing in high-impact journals.Demonstrated excellence in mentoring and teaching at the graduate and/or postgraduate level.Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.Preferred Skills:
Expertise in precision medicine, genomics, or bioinformatics.Experience with regulatory frameworks and ethical issues in biobanking.Strong collaborative network in academic, clinical, and industrial settings.Salary and Benefits:
