The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine’s Center for Vaccine Research (CVR) is seeking applicants for tenure-stream faculty positions at Assistant and Associate Professor levels. The CVR is a departmental-level physical center that is a major hub for infection biology at the University of Pittsburgh. Our research interests span from atoms through animals, extend to human cohorts, and are aligned to understand disease and inform the development of intervention strategies. Our research infrastructure facilitates the study of a wide range of emerging infectious diseases and spans BSL-1 through BSL-3/3 . The integral Regional Biocontainment Laboratory (RBL) is fully registered for work with select agents, including CDC/USDA overlap pathogens. This extensive facility can house a wide range of animal species and is furnished with state-of-the-art equipment. Recently, the laboratory infrastructure has been fully upgraded. Preference will be given to applicants whowork on the basic biology and evolutionary trajectories of emerging pathogens, use and develop novel animal models of human disease, design or develop novel prophylactic or therapeutic interventions, develop next-generation vaccine strategies, or seek to advance our understanding of pathogen-host interactions using creative approaches. General microbiologists are encouraged to apply.
Requirements include a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree and postgraduate training. Applicants should have considerable experience in the fields of Microbiology and/or Immunology. Assistant Professor applicants should demonstrate a strong publication record and 1-5 years of experience. Associate Professor applicants are expected to have a track record of independent publications and extramural funding, as well as 6-10 years of experience.
The department of primary faculty appointment will be determined based on the incumbent’s qualifications and interests.
