What You Will Do to Change Lives 

Family Peer Support Specialist engage, inspire, and encourage participants and their families, families of choice, and natural supports to actively support the participants’ recovery plan.  Family Peer Support Specialist provide information, education, and resources to supporters so they can be better prepared to bring out the best in their loved one, whether it be while the person is living independently or in the family home.  Family Peer Support Specialist are part of an integrated service team who promote and reinforce Telecare’s Recovery Culture as defined by the Telecare Recovery Centered Clinical System (RCCS) in which each participant and their supporters’ points of view and preferences are recognized, understood, respected, and integrated into services and self-help programming.  Additionally, Family Peer Support Specialist respond to critical situations with high-level engagement and de-escalation skills which support a least restrictive environment for participants experiencing an emergency related to a behavioral health challenge. 

Shifts Available: 

Full Time; PM 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm; Monday - Friday

Expected starting wage range is $16.25 - $19.58.  Telecare applies geographic differentials to its pay ranges.  The pay range assigned to this role will be based on the geographic location from which the role is performed.  Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements.

What You Bring to the Table (Must Have) 

High School Diploma or GED required  Successful completion of Family Peer Support Training or completed within one year of hire  Demonstrated lived experience as a parent or primary caregiver of a person with behavioral health care needs.   Minimum of one (1) year of full-time experience, or its part-time equivalent, working in a program serving persons with mental disabilities

The Crisis Residential Treatment programs will provide short-term, 24/7 crisis residential services for adults ages 18+ via 16 beds at Telecare Citrus House- 7225 Leeds Street, RTP-D, Downey, CA 90242.  Services will help clients in acute psychiatric distress avoid inpatient hospitalization, emergency services, and incarceration; regain their stability in a safe, homelike environment; begin working toward longer-term recovery goals; and establish linkages with stable housing and ongoing treatment.
