Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a FAMILY PROGRAM SPECIALIST, Position Description Number D1743000 and is part of the KS Joint Forces Headquarters, National Guard. Responsibilities As a GS-0301-09, FAMILY PROGRAM SPECIALIST, you will serve as an advisor on quality of life and Family Program matters for National Guard and reserve members with the goal of maximizing retention and readiness. Assists in the development, planning, and implementation of the Family Program, which includes readiness, volunteer management and improving the quality of life and well-being of members and families. This includes issues involving benefits, entitlements, scheduling events, missions, roles, and functions of the National Guard. Assists in planning, maintaining, and updating an ongoing system of information and referral for use by the military community. Coordinate dissemination of information. Prepare and disseminates information to staff and units to provide to family members and stimulate interest and support on benefits and entitlements. Conduct or assists in conducting seminars, conferences, and workshops as appropriate. Conduct needs assessments to identify other programming needs of family members. Assist in developing and maintaining local information and referral programs. Provide technical assistance to personnel publicizing quality of life and the Family Program. Conduct briefings and training for staff and units to stimulate interest, support, and provide necessary information. Provides technical assistance to personnel publicizing the Family Program. Other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5-day workweek, then a 4-day workweek (eight 9-hour days and one 8-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80-hour pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements. Telework: ELIGIBLE FOR SITUATIONAL TELEWORK ONLY, INCLUDING EMERGENCY AND PRESCRIBED "UNSCHEDULED TELEWORK" Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Military Grades: E-4 through E-7, O1- O2 Compatible Military Assignments: immaterial GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience, education or training which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration. Compiling reports, letters, memoranda, etc., and required person-to-person contacts to convey information. Progressively responsible experience which demonstrates the ability to provide technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 1 year specialized experience, education or training equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Applicants must have experience providing technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled. Applicants must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of administrative procedures and practices of management. Experience developing administrative procedures. Education If you are using Education to qualify for this position, Completion of courses such as the Officer Advanced Course, Squadron Officer School, Command and Staff College, Air and Army War College, National Security Management Course and others of comparable level will be credited at the rate of 1 month of education for two months of specialized experience. You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
