POSITION SUMMARY:

Center for Family Services Head Start Program is seeking an experienced Family Service Advocate. The Family Service Advocate serves as a family advocate and liaison between children, families and community services.  They support the larger system of social services coordinated by Head Start, thereby supporting the goals of the program. Core responsibilities include: enrollment, recruitment, selection, eligibility, and attendance, parent involvement, and best practices to ensure quality services. Required schedule is Mon- Fri 8am-4pm.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

The Family Service Advocate recruits prospective families and aids with the enrollment process. They assist in completing child profiles, assessments, and health screenings. They also act as a case manager conducting home visits, as needed, to assist families with achieving their  identified goals. They work cooperatively with local agencies to link up families with services in the local community and make referrals for emergency or crisis intervention assistance. They coordinate with center staff to promote parent involvement in the program as a classroom visitor, volunteer, employee, and/or participate in family events.

The Family Service Advocate maintains updated recruitment materials, participates in community activities to educate the community on Head Start, and obtains community resources for Head Start Families. They participate in team management functions of planning, implementing, and evaluating Family and Community Partnership goals and objectives.The Family Service Advocate attends all required staff meetings and activities. This is a Full Time Position, Monday - Friday 8am to 4pm and up to 25% travel.

Requirements: 

AA degree or higher in Social Work, Sociology, or related fieldFDC CertificationExperience working with childrenMaintain First Aid and CPR certificationsCurrent driver's license and a good driving record of 3 yearsVehicle with current insurance and registration
