The primary purpose of this position FAMILY SUPPORT COORDINATOR (EFMP) NH-0101-02 is to plan, update, implement, and administer the installation family support portion of the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) in coordination with the installation EFMP assignments and medical functions to include identifying and enrolling special needs family members. Responsibilities Manage the installation EFMP Family Support component of the DAF Exceptional Family Member Program. Provide non-medical case management. Develop, update, and maintain installation EFMP education, outreach, educational activities, workshops, and public affairs programs, to include awareness briefings for command, unit, community organizations, individuals, families, and distinguished visitors. Provide a basic level of support to other Military and Family Readiness Center (M&FRC) programs to support a higher level of service to EFMP families. Support military personnel (and civilians with a DoD Identification Card) and their families with special needs in managing the competing demands of the military mission and family. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions Professional and Scientific Positions, to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the 0101 Social Science Series. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. EDUCATION: Applicant must have successfully completed a four year degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have, or within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement will have, four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates I have acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field that is also equivalent to Federal experience at the next lower grade (GS-04), level, pay band (NH-01), or equivalent (pay schedule, pay band, etc). General experience is described as: 1) Providing knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and practices relating to one or more of the social or behavioral sciences in relation to work in a family support capacity with special needs families. 2) Applying knowledge of the practical aspects of social services delivery systems, including those administered by federal agencies and non-standardized community and state service providers in the local area, as well as the variety of practices, procedures, and methods utilized for accessing them. 3) Conducting interviews with and counseling families and individuals with a wide variety of special needs, some of whom have multiple needs, to establish the nature and extent of concerns and issues, receive and assimilate information, encourage enrollment, aid in developing goals and plans, and determine appropriate referral services and/or options. 4) Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships using tact and diplomacy in interactions with leadership, on-and off base service agencies, state and local governments, and civic leaders to identify available services and gaps in services for families with special needs in a military environment, advocate for the families, and partner to achieve objectives. 5) Assessing and measuring organizational trends, concerns, and needs; identifying gaps in available services; reporting on; and providing recommendations for the development and implementation of effective plans and tools to address issues. 6) Communicating effectively orally and in writing. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Applicant must have equivalent combinations of successfully completed post high school education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. A degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines commensurate with the position or combination of education and experience with knowledge of one or more behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major within the field; or four years of appropriate experience IAW OPM qualification requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and practices relating to one or more of the social or behavioral sciences in relation to work in a family support capacity with special needs families. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Additional Information Hill Air Force Base provides worldwide engineering and logistics management for the F-16 Fighting Falcon, A-10 Thunderbolt II, and the Minuteman III ICBM, and performs depot maintenance of the F-16, A-10, and C-130 Hercules aircraft. The base is located between Ogden and Salt Lake City. The area is known for year round activities, including skiing, hiking, boating, extreme sports, fishing and hunting, with four distinct seasons, low humidity and moderate snow fall in the valley. This is an acquisition demonstration project position NH-02 equivalent to a GS-05 to GS-11.
