Farm to School Curriculum Coordinator
The Clyde-Savannah Central School District currently has an opening for a Farm to School Curriculum Coordinator TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: + Understand and leverage the connection between nutritious food and learning + Work with teachers at all grade levels to develop and support food based and garden-based curriculum. + Coordinate activities between school cafeteria, classrooms and community including our local farmers market, local farmers, food banks, etc. + Assist in planning taste tests, cook and food exploration opportunities as well as student feedback opportunities. + Work with faculty and students to develop, improve & maintain on-campus gardens, including possible oversight of youth workers/volunteers for the care and maintenance of on-site school gardens. + Work with the Farm to School Coordinator and Farm to School Committee on the design, construction and financing of a working classroom greenhouse. + Develop and pursue activities and programming to support farm to school + Assist the Farm to School Coordinator in researching grant opportunities to assist in continued funding for the farm to school program. Job Qualifications POSITION FEATURES: The Farm to School Curriculum Coordinator will work with the Farm to School Coordinator and committee in creating a variety of lessons and activities focusing on all grade level student centered programs such as school gardening programs, local and school food pantries, wellness committees and community-based learning opportunities centered around Farm to School. This position can create new material or work through the National/State Farm to School Association, USDA Farm to School programs to use existing curriculum to implement here at our district. The Curriculum Coordinator will also investigate and initiate vocational opportunities and field trips with the farming and culinary community at large. The goal is to increase awareness and accessibility to high quality food for everyone in the learning community and connect students, school personnel and the school cafeteria to resources, while focusing on embedded nutritional education. This position is grant-based and does not have direct supervisory duties but will be expected to attend Farm to School Committee meetings, Wellness Meetings and to meet with the Farm to School Coordinator on a regular basis.
