Job Title: Assistant Project Manager/Project Manager (Hybrid)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager/Project Manager (APM/PM) with 5-10+ years of experience in the construction industry or a comparable field. The ideal candidate will have managed at least one project in the $5-20 million dollar range and preferably served as an Owners Construction Management Representative. This role involves managing the $500 million revitalization of the National Air and Space Museum on the National Mall in Washington, DC. Experience working with a General Contractor and coordinating shipping logistics and tenant office moves is a plus. This position will involve moving and reinstalling museum artifacts before, during, and after construction, with an approximate duration of three years. Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to work as part of a team are essential.

ResponsibilitiesWork with OPDC facilities AHHP preservation staff to provide construction and administrative support for projects.Conduct site observations, prepare conservation and field reports, schedule meetings, track responses, and prepare and distribute meeting notes.Administer DropBox and Teams sites, and obtain, analyze, and prepare relevant documents and PowerPoint presentations.Assist the Smithsonian Institute Historic Preservation Contracting Officer’s Technical Representative.Support OPDC Historic Preservation COTR for architectural conservation and technical preservation projects.Coordinate with outside Architectural and Engineering (AE) consultants.Collaborate with OPDC, AHHP, and planning staff in the preparation of public-facing documents for Section 106 review and DC External Agency review processes.Post documents to AHHP’s website in conformance with ADA 508 compliance.Assemble and prepare deliverables and reports for distribution within the Smithsonian Institute.Research files for issue resolution and back-checking reports.Essential SkillsDemonstrated understanding of conservation of historic materials through site-specific preservation projects.Experience with historic preservation construction projects.Experience with architectural history research and report writing.Ability to perform administrative duties including note-taking, document management, and scheduling.Familiarity with museum designs and cultural institutions, such as the Smithsonian.Proficiency in DropBox, Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe Suite.Ability to work and communicate effectively within a team, and independently.Bachelor’s degree in materials conservation, architecture, historic preservation, or related major.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with AutoCAD drawing skills and GIS is a plus but not required.Experience on historical projects and working with local agencies.Excellent communication skills and a proven team player.Experience with RFIs, submittals, space planning, interiors, relocation, build-out, tenant, and assistant project management.Work Environment

This is a full-time onsite role at the Smithsonian office in downtown Washington, DC. The role requires regular travel to nearby museums. Parking is provided, and the location is conveniently near mass transit. There is no option for remote work initially, but once fully integrated, occasional remote work may be possible. The work environment includes collaboration with a dedicated team on exciting projects at the Air and Space Museum.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $48.08
