POSITION SUMMARY The Child Care Worker, assists the lead dietitian in planning and preparing for cooking classes. This includes setting up the cooking stations, ensuring all necessary ingredients and equipment are available, maintaining organization throughout the class, assisting in the clean-up process, including washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, and organizing equipment. During the class, the cooking class assistant provides hands-on support and guidance to children and their parents. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS High School diploma plus 1 year experience working with children is required. LOCATION Hartford, CT SCHEDULE Fill-in Substitute The class will be every other Tuesday 4pm-830pm dates of the classes below July 16 Aug 6 Aug 20 Sept 3 Sept 17 October 1 October 15 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provides a healthy environment for the children by appropriately interacting with them during class. Knowledgeable about early childhood development and able to interact according to child’s needs. Ensure a safe and clean cooking environment by supervising and assisting with kitchen hygiene practices and kitchen safety principles. Encourage and support children in their cooking endeavors, fostering a positive and enjoyable learning experience. Assist with the clean-up process after each class, including washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, and organizing equipment. Informs supervisor and cleaning crew of any issues that need to be addressed. Maintains awareness of mandated reporting laws regarding suspected child abuse. Identifies signs of potential abuse and reporting concerns to supervisor. Supports clinical staff offering feedback about child care. Continues to develop knowledge and understanding about the history, traditions, values, family systems, and artistic expression of groups served as well as uses appropriate methodological approaches, skills, and techniques that reflect an understanding of culture.
