Nature of Position: Oversees the day-to-day operations of the feed mill maintenance. Evaluates systems and facility equipment to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed. Assesses building systems to plan work assignments and project schedules. Develops maintenance procedures and schedules.
Essential Functions:(Order of Essential Functions does not indicate importance of Functions) Plans, organizes, controls, integrates and evaluates the activities and operations related to the maintenance and repair of the feed mill and office.Provides technical direction to mill personnel.Troubleshoots and provides troubleshooting direction and assistance.Coordinates with millwright & electrical contractors on capital projects and repairs.Verifies equipment specifications and obtains quotes from vendors.Orders parts and manages maintenance logistics.Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.Identifies opportunities for improving manufacturing processes, identifies resource needs, reviews with Feed Mill Manager, and implements improvements.Performs highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the feed mill’s facility’s equipment.Diagnoses problems, replaces or repairs parts, tests, and makes adjustments.Detects faulty operations, defective material, and reports those and any unusual situations to Feed Mill Manager.Complies with safety regulations and supervises housekeeping of maintenance areas.Performs tasks as assigned by the Feed Mill Manager.Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
Education and Experience Requirements: Must be proficient in areas of:- Mechanical Aptitude- Mechanical Repair- Welding- Electrical- Boiler operationEffective leadership skills.Excellent communication skills (verbal or written).Ability to organize multiple tasks and priorities.Ability to work effectively within a team.Ability to coordinate effectively with contractors and equipment & parts vendors.Must know shop math, be able to interpret drawings and be able to use the tools required.Safety training courses completed (OSHA or company required). Preferred Qualifications:Feed Mill Management experience.Experience in construction projects.Knowledge of Labor Relations and ability to organize and motivate people.Past performance shows highly developed leadership skills.Proficient in using MS Office tools.30 Hour Construction Safety Course (OSHA)
Working Conditions:During summer months temperatures can be over 100 degrees for entire scheduled workday.During winter months temperatures can be below zero for entire scheduled workday.During and after heavy rains the road in and around the farms can become extremely muddy and difficult to maneuver on.During different job duties the noise inside or outside barns can become very high in decibels. Posted at every site is a sign of how many decibels different duties are and when hearing protection is mandatory. Will be exposed daily to odors, dusts and gasses that may be uncomfortable or hazardous if proper procedures are not followed.Will be exposed to electrical boxes and electrical machinery that are not to be entered or repaired by those who are not certified in basic electrical training and/or lock out tag out. Will be exposed daily to procedures that cause contact with hazardous materials. This position does not have an application deadline. We will continue to recruit until the position has been filled.
