Overview

 

The Luau Show Female Dancer will work under the supervision of the Luau Stage Manager and work in conjunction with the Luau Show Line captains to assist with the daily operations of the Luau Show.  An integral part of their responsibility is maintaining the performance standards as directed by the Luau Artistic Director.

 The Luau Show Female Dancer provides professional authentic Hawaiian/Polynesian songs, dances or skits, performances before, during and after the show.  Provides excellent guest experience.

 

Responsibilities

These duties include but are not limited to the following:

 

Must attend and participate in all scheduled rehearsals and trainings for the show as required.Must attend all pre-shift and post shift meetings.Must perform all assigned pre-shift and post shift duties including but not limited to cleaning the dressing room and backstage areas before and after the show.Responsible for ensuring the daily preparations for the Luau Show are in order, i.e., costumes and equipment.Responsible to follow the daily performance schedule (line up) for each show.Responsible to ensure you are dressed in accordance to the standards of each number of the show.Responsible to maintain the quality of the choreography for each performance.Responsible to ensure all equipment/instruments, costumes, and supplies are kept in good condition.Perform the lei greeting and picture taking with guests.Participates with the Imu ceremony as needed.Performs the torch lighting ceremony when in operation.Performs the pre-show.Responsible to learn and perform all the dance numbers and songs of the show.Assist the other dancers to learn and perform all the dance numbers and songs of the show.Responsible for making your own accessories and adornments using the fresh greens including but not limited to:Ti leaf skirts, leggings, neckKupe’eTahitian hip and heiOther items as required.Responsible for caring and maintaining costumes for each dance number, including accessories.Responsible to assist the immediate supervisor to gather the costumes for weekly washing.Responsible for supplying and maintaining your own personal items needed for all performances of the show, including but not limited to:Hair spray, water bottle spray.Brush, horse brush, comb.Bobby pins, barrettes, rubber bands for hair (must be same color as hair)Green, nude and black colored hula panties.Other items as directed by supervisor/manager.

 

Must ensure compliance with all local and liquor laws and health and sanitation regulations.Must be in compliance with Hotel policies, rules and regulationsMust attend and participate in all department and company required meetings/training.Must provide an excellent guest experience for overall guest satisfaction.Must perform other duties as directed/assigned by supervisor/management. Proven experience in a show production role or equivalent.Must be able to work in conjunction with the Luau Artistic Director, Luau Show Stage Manager, F&B Luau Manager/Supervisor, and Luau Staff.Must be able to interact with fellow co-workers, managers/supervisors, guests and others with respect and honesty.Must be able to work cohesively with fellow co-workers, and managers/supervisors as part of a team.Must attend all scheduled rehearsals, training, and hotel required meetingsMust have a positive attitude.Must be able to read and write in the English language.Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all levels of management, employees, guests and others in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.Must be able to approach all encounters with management, employees, guests and others in an attentive, friendly courteous and service-oriented mannerMust be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by management, employees, guests, and others.Must have excellent decision-making skills and be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.Must be detail oriented and able to perform job functions with accuracy.Must be able to multitask and prioritize duties and functions according to the Luau Show’s needs to meet deadlines.Must be available for flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the Luau Show, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.Must be flexible and able to adjust to position changes nightly according to the needs of the Luau Show.Must comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.Must comply with all departmental and company policies.Must be able to maintain confidential information.Must performs other duties as directed/assigned by managers/supervisors.

 

 

General Job Requirements:

 

Must maintain a nice, kind, warm and friendly demeanor and be an Ambassador of Aloha Spirit at all times.Must show up to work on time, at the start of your scheduled shift and ready to work., fully dressed (including hair and makeup) in accordance to the Luau Show’s standards.Must possess Hawaiian/Polynesian dance skills to perform the dance numbers in the show.Must have the ability to follow directions and take critiques and adjust as necessary.Must be self-motivated and able to learn quickly.Must be able to work with minimal supervision.Must maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the Luau Show.Must possess high level of technical proficiency, physical ability and physical fitness.Must maintain personal hygiene, appearance and grooming according to the Highgate standards.Must maintain the physical appearance including hair color/style as follows:No visible tan lines anywhere on the body.No radical hair style/colors must look natural.Length of hair must be below the back strap of the bra when braided.Must be able to fit into the costumes as provided.Nail polish must be clear or natural color.
