Position Overview
The Fiber Maintenance Technician will serve as the single point of contact for all OSP Maintenance activities across Texas. This includes responding to and managing all outages and coordinating resources to ensure FiberLight’s assets are restored safely, efficiently and effectively.
Essential Job Functions
Manage and maintain fiber network to achieve company and customer satisfactionLead all outage / maintenance activities within assigned Work ZoneOn-Call rotation requirementsTrack all maintenance activities and associated costs within the assigned Work ZoneProvide back-office support by utilizing 3GIS / FMS to pinpoint outages based on ISP, NOC, or Customer-provided OTDR readingsRequirements
5 years of Telecom OSP ConstructionFiber Splicing: testing & isolationProficient w/PCs, Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Project, etc)Current valid driver’s licenseTravel throughout TexasOther Skills/Abilities
Ability to understand mapping programs and key identifiers in a fiber optic network, read and utilize GPS units and record network positioningStrong negotiations skills as we continue to streamline our OSP vendor listKnowledge of “Call Before You Dig” rules and regulations as they apply to a network utility providerKnowledge of OSHA safety rules and regulations as they apply to locating and providing repair and maintenance within a fiber optic networkPhysical Requirements
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, kneel and reachMust be able to speak, write, read, and understand EnglishMust have visual acuityMust be able to lift 0-25 pounds
