The general role of the Project Manager – Fiber Optics is to supervise and direct fiber optics project tasks, personnel, and requirements in a dedicated, organized, and efficient manner. The position must be detail oriented and performance driven to ensure that all project elements are synchronized and successfully completed.
The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget by designating project resources, preparing budgets, monitoring progress, and maintaining open communication between customers and management.
The Project Manager reports to the Department Manager – Fiber Optics and works primarily out of the Knoxville location.
What You'll Do Determine and define project scope, objectives, and plan and direct resources to ensure successful completionReview project designs and contribute ideas for cost savingsCarry out daily operational tasks in an effective and timely mannerFacilitate communications between office and field personnelProblem-solve issues and ensure continuous improvementOrganize, file, and maintain all current project documentsEnter information and manage the digital project databasesEnsure compliance to necessary specificationsCreate cost estimates and manage to maintain budget, customer satisfaction and financial objectivesAssist with setting prices and quote jobs to include material sales and project needsCoordinate and execute daily administrative tasks to include the processing of timecards, vehicle and equipment assignments, work in progress reports (WIPs), invoices, etc.Schedule and confirm deliveries to field staffEnsure project adheres to a set schedule and meets the goals of the clientSchedule meetings, phone calls, site visits, etc.Consult with and gather information from technicians, engineers, contractors, etc. to ensure an effective flow of informationProvide oversight and mentorship to the Assistant Project Manager as well as the Fiber Optics personnelMaintain positive vendor and client relationshipsPredict resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient mannerTrack project costs and maintain budgetDevelop and manage a detailed project schedule and work planProvide project updates on a consistent basis regarding strategy, adjustments, and progressEnsure industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project executionManage and supervise Field Personnel and ensure effective performance management
