SUMMARY

Supports the installation, repair, or modification of fiber between two or more sites. Creates and maintains connections for telecommunications through telephone, high-speed internet, and televisions, etc.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Installs and maintains fiber optic cables and provides technical assistance in the designing and testing of fiber optics. Designs, installs, operates, maintains, tests and repairs telecommunication networks in a variety of environments (e.g., underground, indoor, and aerial). Works in collaboration with project stakeholders and in accordance with guidance to plan installations. Terminates cable utilizing a variety of connectors. Performs testing utilizing Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDR), Power Meter/Light Sources, and Visual Fault Locators (VFL), as required. Reads and interprets engineering documentation and demonstrates an understanding of fiber counts and colors. Records and documents testing per customer specifications. Maintains regular and punctual attendance. Performs other duties as assigned.
